Default Which is rarer Metal Fighter Sachen, or Color Dreams?

I picked up Metal Fighter from Color Dreams for the NES today for 3$, and looked at the DP checklist, and see that there is also one made by Sachen, so, which would be considered "rarer: if either?

I would say the Sachen version. I don't think I've seen a Sachen version of Metal Fighter out in the wild, while Color Dreams' games were more widely distributed.

Whats the story on Sachen anyway? Do NES collectors consider them "legit" unlicenced carts (like AVE and Color Dreams)? Were they even sold in the USA? I've been collecting NES for 5 years and haven't seen a single Sachen in the wild.

This has been the subject of many a debate here on the forum (of which there are past threads you should read for more info).

There are some who feel that they fall into the same category as the Panesian games - not produced in the US (I believe), but had a limited distribution here. Thus, they should be counted.

There are others who feel that they were never distributed in the US, but have made their way here via import, and thus should not be counted.

TheRedEye probably knows more about the Sachen games than most do on this board, and also has a website that is really informative. So you should check it out sometime.

Basically, it all comes down to collector preference. If your goal is to assemble a "complete" set of US produced NES games, then you would probably want to include all licensed and unlicensed games. If you aren't sure how the Sachen games fit in to that mix - leave them out. You can always change your mind later....

    Hope this helps,
    Steve
