Question Need a gamer that knows their old school music.

My friend was asking me for help on naming some video games and he only gave me the music to go by. Anyway I thought I'd help him out and try and figure out the answers.

*Edit* Here are the last one. (I took out the already figured out ones)

    Unknown 5

    It's not Vagrant Story.
    Maybe Yoko Kanno? Haha.
    Could be Shadow Hearts-ish.

1st one does sound Sonicy... :P Definitely Genesis I think.
2nd one sounds very NES like.
3rd one sounds SNES like. Maybe a Final Fantasy?
    4th sounds NES like
5th I have no idea but obviously a CD system.
    6th sounds like NES
    7th like Genesis

Sorry I don't know what games any of them are :P

1st... no idea. It's Genesis FA SHO THO
2nd... no idea. It's definitely NES.
3rd... no idea. Sounds like SNES.
4th... no idea (sorry!). But it's definitely NES.
5th sounds like a game that Yoko Kanno did the soundtrack to. hahahaha. Seriously.
6th... Goonies II. I know cause minibosses covered it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uV-6V5C6kAk
    7th... dunno. It's likely a TG16/PCE or SNES game.

Sorry I can't be of more assistance... these are all pretty uncommon IMO.

No ideas about the others, but 7 sounds like Ys III done through MIDI instruments. If not YsIII, then try Ys I or II.

Wow... these are pretty tough. I dont know what games they are from but if we can nail the sound to a certain system we can guess from there.

2 - I agree this is certainly a NES game

4 - This is probably a Turbo Grafx or a Snes game. Pretty sure its not Genesis.

5 - Sounds very Shadow Hearts-ish. Its not SH 1 or 2 but maybe part 3 though... I havent played 3 all the way through so I cant rule it out.

7 - This HAS to be a Falcom game. Falcom's JDK band is un-mistakable. The question is what system sound chip this is. It doesnt sound good enough to be SNES or the Genny and the Turbo Grafx Falcom games were on CD and mostly Red Booked. Although a few areas in the games did use the turbo grafx sound chip instead. It also sounds pretty impressive to be the NES, but maybe it is. But I am almost certain it is not Y's I or II. Here is my best guess.

NES - Y's III or Faxanadu.

Turbo Grafx - Y's III or IV, Legend of Xanadu I or II, or Brandish

If this turns out not to be a Falcom game or a game that Falcom's JDK band did the music for, I will sereiously begin to question everything I have ever thought to be true. So for my sake THIS HAD BETTER BE A FALCOM GAME!!! lol
If a god is willing to prevent evil, but not able, then he is not omnipotent. If he is able, but not willing, then he must be malevolent. If he is both willing and able, then why is there evil? If he is neither able or willing then why call him a god?

I was thinking Famcom as well for number seven. It's ridiculous how many of the songs from Ys sound similar.

#7 is definitely the Clock Tower music from Ys III on the SNES. I just double-checked it.

I'm pretty sure #4 is by Konami, and by the same composer as TMNT on the NES. It's a later-era NES game judging by the use of DMC samples. It sounds like it may be from a sports game rather than an action game.

#2 is really hard to trace, because it sounds a little like an early-era NES game. This'll take a bit of time. (Someone else can search through NSFs.)

I'm not too sure about the first game pictured (I think it's PO'ed), but I know the other two games are Ikari Warriors and Sword of the Berserk.

Hey thanks guys for the picture help, my friend is very ecstatic. As for the music I figured out #4 this morning. It's a game on the NES called "Monster in my Pocket." And you were right ccovell it is a Konami game.

Why? How was he able to get the music, but not the names?

He told me he had some random MP3's in his collection that just needed names. I guess he likes the songs enough that he'll keep and name them.

Unknown 2 is from Bill and Ted's Excellent Video Game Adventure on the NES. I played that game way more than anyone should have ever.

    Exclamation

GOT IT!!! My friend listened to it and confirmed. Number 5 is called "Exceeding Love". It is the intro from Suikoden III for the PS2!
