Default Will point & click games cease to be?

I was browsing around my games and this thought has came to my mind. When was the last time I brought a graphic adventure game that was point and click? The most "recent" one I brought was Tony Tough & the Night of the Roasted Moths. I've heard about the Sam & Max Telltale games and how good they are but that's the only game I've heard about that's "point & click"'ish. I'm a huge fan of these type of games and hopefully there'll be more to come but I don't know...

I totally agree. I love these kind of games and I hope they don't die.... but I think they will.

You may try to find the Discworld games. They're point and click and very funny. (If you like Monty Python type humor)

They haven't really died, they just got moved over for "click and point" party games, like brain age 1 , 2, brain boost, etc.

The Wii has the biggest potential to offer something like this. I'd say mail the smaller comapnies like crave, majesco, etc and see if they could get some compilations or some such going, or even fresh ones.

I think will see a resurgence in the point and click adventure genre, especially if Zack and Wiki does well. Even the DS is seeing a lot of them.

Now that I think of it, I did saw a point and click game on the DS. It's called Touch Detective, something like that.

    I will say this:

I hope the genre doesn't die, but I hated MYST.

I actually thought it was an interactive screen saver at first. On the other hand, the 7th Guest (these are both fairly old computer games) was a point and click puzzle game and I loved it!

The MYST series was the sole reason why I almost got out of PC gaming. I can't understand how people can consider those things "games". Ugh.

Adventure gaming is alive and well. The Adventure Company puts out tons of games all the time; then there's Sam and Max, which is doing quite well. The CSI series on PC and XBox is doing well, even if the first games sucked a bit.

And adventure gaming is VERY STRONG on the DS. The Phoenix Wright series, Hotel Dusk, Touch Detective, and a few other games such as Harvey Birdman on the PS2 (it counts!) are coming out. So it's doing well, just not as well as it was ten years ago.

Quite frankly the Wii has so much potential with the pointer being utilized to interact as a mouse-like device. I'd like to see a lot of older PC games remade just for the Wii's unique ability, like play Kings Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest and many, many others. The issue is that they were designed on Microsoft OSs so they'd either need some permission for emulating or have a team create some software conversion package for the Virtual Console. I'd buy classic/retro/vintage games on VC if they offered it and I owned a Wii (sure would being a selling point).

    DOSBox.

I mean, Sierra already used it for their recent crappy collections. So did iD with their Steam rereleases.

Given how DOSBox is portable, it wouldn't be that much trouble...

Talking about the Wii, I heard a rumor that Commodore 64 games might be available in the future on the virtual console. If that's the case, Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders and Maniac Mansion better be the first games available.

Oh? I have tried DOSBox a few times and dislike it beyond belief. I prefer booting up an older computer and just playing it that way. It may seem redudant but the software is running how it was intended.

Now, you can debate about why I'd even want to emulate an older PC game on a Wii then but it'd be about the different experience. The possibility of gameplay with the WiiMote is cool because it's not something a computer has openly offered. Also, I'm sure with the Wii's processing power it'd have no problem playing games as new as the 2000s.

Yeah, you have to mess around with DOSbox to get the correct running speed for some games. I don't mind doing it but I was getting a huge headache sync'in up LSL 6 to the speed it was when I first played it. LoL
