Earthbound
What do you think is the best?
Mega Man Games: 3/???
Xbox Game Count: 15
Is Halo even old enough to be counted as a "classic"?
Where's Final Fantasy?! You can't have a poll without that!

Well I am doing a few of these to get more votes for a contest for best game of all time and I though I would get the views of the digitpress.com people. So there will be FF later on. And if PS2 is talked about in the classisc board, then why not xbox?
Mega Man Games: 3/???

WTF? Wheres terranigma? Castlevania sotn of night? Ys book 1 and 2? Shaq fu?
U GAIZ JUST DONT LIKE CHANGE , (builds a artificial foundation here)
Halo won't be classic for at least a few more years IMO. There are still some that cling onto the Dreamcast as not being classic. I think being 10 years since launch or release classifies nearly anything as classic in the gaming world.

Weird poll, but of the choices, SMB. I enjoyed that the most out of the choices (never played Earthbound), and it's very replayable.
it all depends how you define classic. some say its after a system loses its manufacturer's support and/or stops being produced. other say its after 2 generations. some like you give it an age. i guess its a combination of things. and yes, i agree that xbox/ps2 just dont feel that classic, im more leaning towards the 2 generation thing or something like 3-5 years after end of production
people who cling onto dreamcast need to stop. just cause its deader than elvis and 'classic' doesnt make it a bad system. then again it was pretty dead like 2 years after release so i can see how the sentiment can drag on...
anyway, OT: out of these choices i say LttP, but i have to add that this is a horrible poll/selection.
Being a classic should have nothing to do with how old the thing in question is. Admittedly, classic does denote something old in the common usage of the word, but that's not really what it means. For something to be classic it only has to be a good example of the class it represents and a standard by which other tings in that class are judged. I've never played Halo, but people do seem to treat Halo like that, so it is a classic by definition.
Anyway. Super Mario Bros, for sure.
...word is bondage...
I think it should be a classic if gamestop no longer sells it. anyway SMB for sure!!!

So did you like just print out a list of all games made in the last 25 years and then tape it up on a wall and throw darts?

The truth is once I buy an Xbox I'll own all three front runners from the previous generation. One of two things should happen:
1) They go classic.
2) The world ends.
But yeah, I say the 10 years deal because once that 10 years has gone by the kids of that gaming generation are then in their 20's and saying "back in the day" and whatnot. Recall that older thread about 19 year olds calling N64 classic now. It is all relative though indeed.

IMO, none of these games are old enough to be "classic". Classic = pre-crash.
Keep in mind I am posting 4 news games tomorrow so cast you votes. And you check the offical score here: http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=3998

Or retro.
I generally use vintage on pre-home electronics stuff, mostly the purely mechanical goodies. Don't know though, it's a fun debate on what's what though (at least to some).
Going back to this though...
So how do you differentiate VCS games produced prior to and after the 1984 crash? What about the 5200 and other consoles from the late 70's, early 80's?

Well I picked SMB because that started my hobby and probably alot of others also.
Super Mario Bros.is my vote. It is the game that revived the home video game console industry.
If Dreamcast is considered classic, the original Halo can be too. After all, lots of Dreamcast games came out the same year as Halo.
