Default Wonder Project J2: Rare gem of a N64 jrpg

Thanks to Aussie2B pimping this title out in another thread I decided to give it a shot, with the translation patch once i found my N64 emulator. I was surprised by the high quality of this title by Enix. I'm playing it now, still near the beginning and getting used to everything but it's one of those off-the-track rpgs like Harvest moon or Animal Crossing that makes niche titles gems.

Now if i can just get Josette to stop eating books...

Glad to hear you're giving it a try and enjoying it. You should try the original on Super Famicom as well, although it's not quite as good, in my opinion. Oh, and in that one you can smack Pino over the head with a mallet when he's eating something he shouldn't. :P Granted, it's a little more crucial in that game when he might try to eat the cat, hehe.

The only thing holding me back from giving this a shot is that I'm waiting for PJ64 v1.7 to officially be released (which is a bit of a ways away). At least, it's the excuse I use to keep from having to mess around with Nemu64 and focus on my current crop of games, anyway

This game is one of those guilty pleasures where you can be as nice or mean depending on your mood, I love it.

So far i've finally gotten used to the interface, did accomplishments 1, 4, 5, and 19.

btw Aussie, love your faq and forum postings at gamefaqs.

I couldn't figure out how to setup Nemu64 with my USB Gamepad... which really sucks. I really want to play this game (and have since the patch was released) I absolutely loved the first one, but I just can't get used to the controls on the keyboard. I dunno... maybe I'm retarded. :P

Well, I definitely wouldn't want to play on a keyboard. It's not exactly a game with demanding controls, but it does feel great with a N64 controller. The Z-trigger just matches so well with the game; I almost wish I could play the original with it.

Thanks, Kaine. If you need any more help, just let me know, and I'll try to dredge up my memory of the finer points of the gameplay.

Project 64's (1.6) setup isn't bad at all actually.

Any other ideas about that issue I pm'ed you about earlier? Also even though I taught J how to use the mop and clean herself (damn I feel dirty playing this sometimes), I can still get achievement 3 after I forcefeed her bad movies right?
