    DOOM 64 shipped.

So, did you play it? What'd you think?

I just got into emulating this (found a nice setup for Project 64 that allows you to use mouse + key) before I plunk down for a real copy sometime. It's nice, really nice, in my view. The barrel trick in the first level is a stroke of genius (of the evil sort), and the level design seems better than that of DOOM 1 (and I like it a bit more than DOOM II's sometimes sprawling and unfocused maps). Lots of atmosphere!

The only downside? Finding out what "The terraformer" was after all these years.

I hated it. It's great if you're playing it on an emulator but it was one of the most awkward games I've ever played because of the n64 controller. If you wanted to strafe left, you either had to take your hand off the Z button & analog stick to press the left shoulder button or use your right hand to press it. And there isn't a way to reconfigure the control layout, is there?

I used to own it, but the controls annoyed me too much and I wound up trading it off to another DP'er.

Rented it, got locked out, came home super late, disappointed when I finally played it. Remember it being very dark (as in hard to see) and it just pissed me off more than it did give me pleasure. Hmm, that sounded wrong.

I rented it and enjoyed it. I think there's a total conversion mod for Doom on the PC that lets you play with the Doom 64 levels/enemies/weapons, too.

I thought it was ok, but I really enjoyed the aforementioned total conversion.

Now that you've got the mouse and keyboard setup tweaked in PJ64, I strongly recommend checking out Duke Nukem: Zero Hour. Sucks on N64, rocks via emulation w/ m+kb.

The reason I bought the N64, loved it and still do. Don't know why it gets such a bad rap. Now Hexen 64 on the other hand...

I remember renting it way back when. My biggest complaint was that there was no in-level save feature like the PC version. That really annoyed me at the time. But looking back now, it doesn't bother me and I'd like to play it again.

Wow, I didn't even know there was a Doom 64 until now.

I've played Doom on, let's see, the PC, PS, and the poor SNES version as well.

First game I emulated this round - it crashed after the training area, unfortunately. Gotta try again, however.

Anyhow, I'm up to Terror Core on the game, haven't missed either of the secret levels, and finally have all the weapons. Game's starting to bore me a little, though.

I enjoyed it, one of those games I wouldn't have played if I didn't have a friend with "sticky fingers" who liked to "pick up" games at the K-mart he worked at and let me have them for a few bucks (I figured $10 for a new game...why not). Never played it with a mouse and keyboard though.

I remember seeing that at a Funcoland at a place that I never been to before and haven't been too since because it was at some place where my cousin lived and we were just visiting. I just remember seeing a display box with an "out now" pop on in front of the register. I don't know why I remember that though. I never played it and didn't care back then or care now but I just remember seeing that display box. It seemed like they were meking a big deal out of it at the time but I didn't understand why. I just figured that it was just another port of the game and I wasn't a big fan of Doom or the 64. But I still remember that one thing and I don't really remember anything else from that trip to my cousin's house.
