$87? Lol...no thanks. Just buy a SNES or NES Wii adapter from retrousb. $19.

I had the money to blow, and i like the Super Famicom controller colors better than the SNES colors. It is a cool collectors item. We should have a Club Nintendo in America.
There'll be more of them on eBay in due time and the price will come down too... all the platinum gifts seem to turn up way more than you'd expect. The Mario 2 CD soundtrack was a platinum gift too and that's all over the shop...
$87.00 ?!!?!! Why are they so expensive ?... They look neat but the price is just way too much for me... for the same price I can get a real Super Famicom with at least two controllers...
I wonder how long it will take before someone comes up with an adapter to use real Super Famicom controllers on a Wii - in a way similar to the ones that already exist for PC computers.
In any case, great find Buns34, pricey but really sexy
Even the N64 stuff? Hows about Metal Slug Anth. or Brawl? Gotcha.

Its for using with Virtual Console games, especially the SuperNes titles. But you won't gain any differences with the button mapping or amount of buttons than you'd have with a real SuperNes pad hooked up with a RetroUSB.
I haven't had any issues with my SuperNes pad with the Virtual Console or GameCube games that supported digital only control and didn't need the Z button. I'd be curious what issues DreamTR had, unless he's trying to play something like Ocarina of Time with the the RetroUSB (Which this isn't going to resolve by buying).

Nice peripheral ...
... awful price!

I figure if people pay two hundred bucks for games like Panzer Dragoon Saga and Radiant Silvergun, then paying eighty seven bucks for an official Japan only Super Famicom Classic Conroller is worth it. But i am also the guy who paid a hundred bucks for Suikoden II. The controller would probably retail for forty bucks, if it was not a Club Nintendo item.
It's expensive because of the way you had to get it.
Although it's available from club nintendo you can't buy it like the other stuff from the goods page. The only way you could get it was to reach platinum rank by registering a lot of codes.
At the end of the year if you have reached platinum rank you usually get a choice of presents, but you can only select 1. Last year it was the special 2 disk version of the mario galaxy soundtrack or a super famicom classic controller.
The year before it was a wii remote battery cover with your own mii printed on it or a copy of tingles balloon fight for ds.
Uh, I'm going to get one. Around $60 - $65 shipped from Japan on ebay.
I can't stand how stiff the normal classic controller D-pad is, how crappy and "deep" the shoulder buttons are, and how plasticky and slippery the normal buttons are. Finally, a cure. Totally worth it in my eyes as I play most of my favorite SNES classics on the VC these days.
Problem solved, and a nice collectible to boot!
