Default DS lite touch screen issue

I bought a launch DS Lite and now out of nowhere the right side of the touch screen is way off to the right from where I'm actually pressing. I have no screen guard and have tried recalibrating the touch screen. Think its time for a new one?

Coincidentally, I was just looking at this picture earlier today:

The red lines are my attempt to trace over the grey grid lines on my old DS Lite that had this exact same problem. You can see how the detection is skewed. By messing around with the touchscreen calibration, I could make the skewedness different, but I was never able to get it to go away.

Nintendo exchanged my system under warranty, but I guess your warranty is expired by now if yours is a launch system.

Sorry, I don't think there's any way to fix this problem.

Instead of buying a whole new DS, you could perhaps just replace the touchscreen. One of my favorite websites for things like this, the NintendoRepair Shop, has exactly what I *think* you'd need.

    DS Lite Replacement touchscreen.

They also offer the bizarre y-shaped screwdriver you'd need to crack it open.

I've dealt with the site a few times in the past, very good stuff and nice service.

Perhaps there is a speck of dust or something trapped at one edge of the screen? Someone here once mentioned having that problem (only in his case it was so bad that the touch screen was acting as if it was always being pressed). Try cleaning the edges very carefully and see if that helps.

I am always shocked to hear anything like this happen since all of the display DS Lite's I have tried in stores (which are so f'ed up you can barely even SEE the picture on the touchscreen through the scratches) all have a perfectly calibrated screens.

eh, I may just buy a new one and keep the screwed one up around as a spare for friends to use or sell it to somebody for under what normal used DS lites go for(on games that don't require too much touch action). I got the white one and kinda like the red one better anyways ha ha. I will also check the edges for dirt or dust to see how that will work for me, Thank You

YES you just gave me another reason to keep it around. I didn't even think of that before. Plus it really isn't so bad if you're just playing games like the final fantasys/castlevanias/marios...you just can't really play the trauma centers or the etrian odyseys.

In some cases this can be corrected if the culprit is dirt caught between the plastic case and the touch screen. You simply brush the crevasses with a SOFT bristle tooth brush, applying gentle pressure. Be careful in there! It's still a crap shoot but, at least it's worth a shot.

More common on the original than the lite since the area stuff can get trapped is minuscule in comparison to the original.
