Default What games have bested you?

I was thinking the other day that thre is quite a few games I have yet to beat. Mainly cause back in the day they were too hard. I am gonna tackle a few of these games the next few weeks and see if I can get some redemption. Here is a list of games on my S**T List that deserve my attention.

Solomans Key - NES - Made it to the last 4 stages. May be impossible.
Kid Chameleon - Genesis - I think this game was made by Satan.
    Rush n' Attack - NES - **sigh**
Metal Warriors - Snes - I think I can do it!
Rolling Thunder - NES - Made it to the last guy. I think I can do it.
Chakan - Genesis - May be able to do it.

What games have you all been unable to beat in the past because they were too hard; and feel like you need to go back and put a whoopin in?

Contra Hard Corps (Genesis) Can't beat that damned Zodiac boss

Mega Man 2 (NES) Always get smoked by the dragon. Bah.

Phantasy Star 2 (Genesis) Made it to Dark Force....underpowered, under-leveled. Never had the patience to make it again.

Blaster Master (NES) Again...just didn't have the patience for this one

Ninja Gaiden 2 (NES) SO. DAMNED. HARD. Damn you wind....DAMN YOOUUUUU!

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Wii) Controls are simply not for extremely left handed people. I can't switch look and move. I just can't.

Alex Kidd in Miracle World (SMS) I will beat this game some day. I will.

Eliminate Down (Mega Drive) Good gods is this shooter evil. Awesome...but cheap as hell.

Exile: Wicked Phenomenon (TG16 CD) It's awesome...but the enemies are SO hard. I got maybe halfway and no matter how powerful my guys get, the enemies are nigh invulnerable. They're ACTUALLY NIGH INVULNERABLE! </The Tick>

Xenogears (PSX) This one was the first RPG to beat me. It simply has more stamina than I do. It outlasted me time and time again...and I was weak....so weak...

Adventures of Cookies and Cream (PS2) Man....it is HARD to find someone that matches your skill level closely enough to beat this game in tandem. Try it sometime....you'll be screaming at each other in minutes...guaranteed. Easy way to ruin a relationship if ya need one!

Nothing's "bested" me, I either decide it's crap or lose interest - or spend months playing it until I get through it (which is what's happening currently with Contra 4 and why I have yet to get a final review up, sigh).

Some of the games mentioned fit my list.

An arcade game that I like but don't excel at : Tutankham. I like to play when I can but I don't get anywhere near the recorded high scores no matter what I do.

Fuck Exile: Wicked Phenomenon. Even Vic Ireland admits they fucked it up in localization, and he always thinks he's right. I threw the towel in on that piece of shit.

Chakan is not easy. I made it really far in that one. I need to give it another try.

I managed to beat megaman 2 on hard, and ninja gaiden 2. Oddly I found ninja gaiden 2 the easiest in the series.

I have been meaning to pick up Cookie and Cream. Is that a fun game?

I forgot to mention the Exile: Wicked Phenomenon. It's one of the few english gams for the tubo I have yet to own. Is it really that hard? I beat the first Exile for the Duo easily. You all make me want to find it more so I can play it. Something about rally hard games draw me to them. Maybe that's why I spent so much time playing Ghost's n' Goblins and Ninja Giden for NES.

The best example I can come up with is Bikkuriman World for PC Engine. It's basically a PC Engine version of Wonder Boy in Monster Land, but it takes after the arcade original more so than the other home ports. That game is HARD. Like the original Wonder Boy/Adventure Island, the game slowly drains your life, which totally goes against the fact that this game was designed to be kind of RPG-ish, with a focus on exploring to find money, secrets, etc. And if you don't find all the secrets, you're pretty much screwed. There's no way to return to past levels either, and there are no continues nor any way to save the game. Worst of all, the final stage is this absolutely massive maze that is so tough to get through. I spent forever just trying to figure my way through it while still staying alive. I finally find the final boss, and he completely destroys me. Thank the heavens that there's a continue code which restarts you on the same stage with the same items and gold, but even that couldn't help me on the final stage. I tried again and again, and I finally beat the bastard. My boyfriend and I were both ecstatic, and I took a deep breath of relief....... and then he transformed into a new boss. Of course, I died, and I couldn't believe what happened. I knew I had no hope and I wasn't going to continue this futile attempt, so, without saying a word to each other, my boyfriend and I pretended like I had completed the game and turned it off. "Yeah..... great job beating Wonder Boy."

One of these days I need to give it another go and get all the secret stuff, which supposedly helps with the final boss.

    I can't beat Solomans Key (NES) either. It's so hard. Other games would be;

Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels: I always got stuck at this one jump. I should go back to see if it's really that hard

The Adventure of Link: I can never bring myself to play it...

That's how I felt about 3. Even the limited continues couldn't hide that it was far easier than the rest.

Any bullet hell games. There's nothing fun about having to be pixel-accurate to survive. :P

Seemingly any R-Type (Super R-Type in particular), Radiant Silvergun, Thunderforce V all give me a lot of trouble.

Radiant Silvergun. I can never get past the third level no matter how perfectly I play the first two.

Any Grand Theft Auto game. I absolutely hate any game that pits you against the controls; I usually get about ten hours in, lose a mission repeatedly to bullshit camera or aiming issues, break a controller, and rage quit permanently.

Legend of Mana. I just can't do it, man. I just can't do it.

All the NES 'Bart Simpson' games

All the Amiga 'Shadow of the Beast' games. Man are they pretty but even with the unlimited lives hacks that came on some of the bootleg copies I still couldn't get threw them!

NES - The Goonies II - I just got fed up because I'd run out of lives.

NES - Wizards & Warriors - It's always on the top 100 nes games but it's a beast. I know I could have beaten it but I just couldn't find a reason to stick the cart back in. ♪♬ dun dun dun dun DUN DUN DUN DUN! ♪♬

Amiga - Dark Castle - Sure it only had 14 levels, but the rats and bats poisoned your ass! Then you got to go find some elixer. If you fall you don't die you get taken to a hard ass dungeon. This was around the time I picked up Eye of the Beholder and I just gave up and moved on.
