Fugly controllers ... and only half the games of their portable unit.
I'll pass.
Though the portable unit is neat. It's been on my radar for a while now, I'm just waiting to find it at a lower price.
"And the book says: 'We may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us.'"
Yeah, both pretty cool though.
yea this new 2 player version looks a hell of alot cheaper than the 1 player handheld. are all these games even 2 player?

The site has all the details click "info"
Eeeeh... Lame.
If I were to shell out the equivalent of $30 US, I'd get the Sega Genesis PS2 collection. At least then I get the Phantasy Star games (with $10 to spare!)
0:54 seconds into the promotional video it says this is "The World's First Sega Mega Drive Handheld Console".
Wait...what?!
DAMNIT DAMNIT DAMNIT You stole my thunder.
I was going to post the exact same thing. I even searched google for images for sega nomad. I found that same image on vidgame.net.
Anyway you beat me to it. Good job

Well, technically, the Nomad was a Genesis handheld console as it was a US-only unit, never to be released in the territories calling it "Mega Drive."
Having said that, there is the Japanese Mega Jet unit, although it does not have a built-in screen, and may therefore not meet their strict criteria for being a "handheld console."

Still ... ugh.

Does this thing not have a cart slot? if not, it's not really a MegaDrive, imo.

The moral is, don't **** with Uncle Tim when he's been drinking!
no cart slot. no built in screen so in that way its like the megajet. Except whereas the megajet is cool and obscure this is some offshore mass produced crap fest. For the same price i could buy a genesis! If i searched around alot i could probably find a nomad at this price (didn't say it would be easy just said it could probably be done). i have a number of these types of units and the thing they all have in common is they just aren't worth it. battery sucking, poor game selection, composite video, mono sounding pieces of junk!

For the price they are asking I reckon they're good systems, The Nomad!?!??! the battery lasts about 20 mins doesnt it?
No man, its true the nomad had a poor battery life
"And the book says: 'We may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us.'"
I actually really like the look of the single player unit. However, with no Streets of Rage or Shining Force titles included, it's simply just a waste of potential. I'm sick of seeing the same games Sega releases year after year on their classics compilations being shoveled onto every medium possible, while many of their best games go completely forgotten.
the games they selected are umm... yeah strange picks
WOW! world's first handheld Genesis huh? and only a decade after the Nomad!
oh wait, I see this new one has been vastly improved! it only plays 20 games!
