Lightbulb Sukebe on Adult magazines and Home Computers. (Is this allowed to be discussed on

    ... this Forum?

The old numbers of the MSX-MAGAZINE had a part called "SUKEBE" that had the focus on adult games. Sure, not everybody would like graphic adventures or "Role Playing Games" about Sex/Love and other threats . But it was on the magazine, much like other publications ... Polemic words and censored images were common into those publications. Sure, trying to do the conversion for localized releases of this type of stuff was not a trivial thing! Imagine the problems with bad publicity if someone managed to take the skeletons out of the boxes ...

Another thing, the first model of MSX computer do not have hardware scroll at all and only has monochromatic sprites. MSX model 2 came with a MSX-Video processor from Yamaha and much more memory, it was possible to do very good vertical scroll but the sprites were limited to one colour per line. MSX2+ has the same limitation about the sprites plus mixed video modes and apparently 'omnidiretional' scroll in the registers, very good horizontal and vertical scrolls.MSX2/2+ have bitmapped screen modes, including Screen mode 8 with '256' colours ( a little less because of black, white and transparent).Around 85/86 it was probably one of the most colourful home computers of that time ... Sure there was even better "personal workstations" on the Japanese market that were able to coup with "15/16" bit colour modes, not just 8-bit graphics like the MSX2 !!!

When reviewed (depends if made available) here in Germany, the magazines don't have an issue with adult games, hell, even Bravo Screenfun, a console magazine for the teen market, had the 'Hot Coffee' minigame as a running video on their cover CD, uncensored. Recently in their anniversary issue they had a quick look-back on 'naked' games too, no censored images.
If you look at the main magazine, Bravo (a tween/teen magazine about entertainment and sex education), every week they feature a teen (male or female) in full frontal nudity. A 'made-up' doctor in the magazine gives advice on sexual questions from the readers.

A couple of French magazines (can't remember the titles), one's Anime, one's for PC, even have hardcore videos on their cover disks, these mags are available in newsagents in the magazine computer section, no worries here.

UK is another matter, magazines are lucky to have a game like the 'Larry' series reviewed, but that's usually about it. Also, still in UK, female nipple cover-up on covers of adult magazines (usually a black square). Unthinkable in France/Germany/Italy etc.
