    Default PSP firmware

This may be a forbidden topic here, so lock the thread if it is.

I recently got a PSP, and I'm curious about the opportunities for emulating other consoles on it, especially since the newer slim model allows for RGB out. I was wondering if anybody knew of a decent internet source that explains how to do this/provides links to firmware/etc.

Also, has anybody tried this? Will it fuck up the PSP? It's pretty obvious that tampering with the firmware will void the warranty, but consoles tend to break on me long after the warranty is expired anyway (*crosses fingers while thinking about his 360*)

Thanks in advance, and I hope I'm not rockin' the boat here.

edit--of course , I've tried searching the forums, but it doesn't like the word "PSP" because it's under 4 letters or something.

I don't have an answer to your thread topic....But I think you meant that the newer Psp's can directly output component instead of RGB...

UPDATE: Just found out that there is a PSP RGB cable overseas.....

PSP-Hacks.com is what you're looking for. You'll need to make a pandora battery & magic memory stick and find out if you have a PSP with one of the newer, CF-proof motherboards. You'll also need another PSP with the 1.5 kernel on it to create the battery too (I think).

Just look for Stallone's Master Thread in the Hacks, Cracks, and Mods section in the forums and you'll find all the info and files you need in there.

Haven't tried the pandora mod yet since I'm still using my fat PSP with CF. Hear it's pretty easy to do though. And if you're looking for an extra battery to 'pandoraize', just buy one of the $10 Tool batteries from DX:

    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12472

Or you might be better off just borrowing/renting a pandora battery & stick from someone since you really only need to use it once. Once you finally have the custom firmware installed, you can update & install it by using the software update option in the XBM.

You don't need a fat psp to make the pandora's battery, you can clip a trace on the battery's board to give it the same effect.

To mod a PSP, you need a second PSP that already has CFW, correct?

None of my friends have CFW, so how would I be able to mod my PSP?

Nope just use a program called PSP Grader or PSP Pandora Deluxe.
But as stated you will need to Hardware modify the battery to make it a Pandora. You do this by clipping a wire on a chip. There are guides online.
