It has been the same in garage sale hunting. All these people really know are that games are in demand, so they think they are worth a fortune. I had someone at a recent garage sale ask for $500 for a SMS and five games. For me, ebay is a better option at this point.
Let's not forget its that same ignorance for its worth that provide the awesome deals we find on there. Just as there are blokes who sells loose NES for 300, there are people who'd sell a cornucopia of systems and 200 games for 50.

Who cares if someone asks 100 for a SMB/DH, I'm interested in the ones selling FF7 complete for 5.

I agree. That is how I picked up a boxed Jaguar with 10 games recently. A couple of the games were rentals so had no boxes, but they all had manuals and the only ones missing the overlays were Wolfenstein and Cybermorph. He was selling the whole package for $10 since it was suffering from the "Red Screen Of Death". A few minutes of cleaning and I now have a perfectly working system.

I use craigslist as does my girlfriend to sell things like used text books. But our local video game sales on craigslist suck. All that's ever on is old systems with popular games that are way over priced.

Yeah. Some people on craigslist seem to think that the NES is some super rare artifact. I see them going for $100 plus (usually with a game or three) on craigslist quite often.

Soldiers at a near by military base regularly try to hawk SNES/NES Famiclones for $100 plus as if they were some incredible feat of technological engineering.

This one makes me sad. Not because it is horrible, but because it is good. The guy has been trying to sell this for over half a year IIRC, and he started at around $25-30. $15 is not quite a steal, but it's still very reasonable. Still no bites.

If he would take better pictures, roll the cords up and put rubber bands on them, or some attempt to organize them, he'd probably get a sale. Plus, the controller isn't even a PSOne controller.

^There's so many people here who will post that for PSP, and one guy who posts it for dreamcast roms....
You'd have to be stupid to pay for dreamcast roms.

Plus, it says "16 bit Nintendo" and it's an NES.

Well, it does say it has been "rechipped."
Obviously, he chipped it with a SNES proc. Duh. I rechipped my NES with a Saturn proc, soldered it to a Laseractive, and it now plays PS3 games.
