    Default Genesis video/audio cable solution use C64 video cable

    i see that many people are trying to get composite video and audio out of there first model genesis by making there own cables.if you want an easy way out just use a commodore video/audio cable.these cable are found cheap on ebay.these have the correct din cable with three rca leads.make sure it has the chroma,luma and audio leads.i can't remember which lead is which as i would have to go look at my commodore monitor.i can tell which lead by color wire.for the genesis use white=video,yellow=audio and red is not used.you can mark or color tape your leads to inicate your connections.make sure you tape the red lead up and out of the way so that it is never used.im not sure what din pin comes out of red so DON'T USE IT.i know there is a 5volt out somewhere on the genesis Din connector.no damage ever happened when i tried the cable so im assuming that things will be ok if done so by accident,that is why taping it up and out of the way at first is recommended.if you want stereo out just get a 1/8 inch stereo to rca cable and use the genesis front headphone jack.

    hope this helps

    i went and looked at my commodore monitor and read the connectors.
    white=audio
    yellow=luma
    red=chroma

    so for the genesis use
    white=video
    yellow=audio
    red=not used

    has anybody else tried the c64 cable? im thinking that if im the only one,and if people are going through the headache of making or trying to find a cable.post a reply, i would be interested to see if ive saved some from taking a few aspirin.

    I did that too, way back in the day.

    I didn't think those cables were so hard to find. There have always been some on ebay... few sets on there right now.
