    Question The new Famiclone Look?...

It seems that with newer video game systems technology, even the Famiclones or Famicom clones are taking the advantage of it....Many have gone, for the most part totally wireless:

The "2008 INFRAZONE"...Apparently with the same NOAC as the Generation NEX...(therefore, same incompatibility)...Controllers are worthless but can be modified to funtion better...

Next, the "Vii" with the sports pack.....This one seems to be a clone of another clone....I really wonder where they got the idea for its name....Surprisingly enough, the controllers work quite well for Famicom and NES games...

    Any thoughts?....

    Thoughts?

I'd buy a BUNCH of them if the damned things weren't going for in some cases OVER $100!!! (*edit* Well, they were earlier in the year ... looks like they've come down to about $50 which is still a bit much.)

It's amsuing that famiclone (and 16 bit clones) have been incorporating the accelerometer hardware into things years before the Wii.

Makes me wonder if Nintendo was INFLUENCED by the massive sales of ping-pong, tennis, and boxing game sets that were built on the NOAC hardware when developing the Wii.

That's actually a great theory!....I got those ping-pong, boxing and tennis games way before the Wii was announced....Makes me wonder too....

I didn't know the Vii was a famiclone. I saw a review of the built-in games awhile ago on youtube. I think it looks neat.

Brazilian company Dynacom, maker of the infamous Dynavision famiclone, is following that trend as well. They're producing the Wivision (!), which also stands vertically and comes with wireless controllers. It can be seen here. The red blinking sign says "watch the TV ad".

The Wivision looks kinda cool, and allegedly comes with 111 pre-installed games AND a 106 game cart (they might have confused themselves with the specs, though). Too bad they sell the damn thing for more than 240 (brazilian) clams, those crazy fuckers.

Fun fact: there's this kid's program here which gives Dynavisions/Wivisions away in phone contests. There's also the oportunnity of winning a PS2. Since young children have no clue whatsoever of what a NES is, the hosts of the show (a couple of annoying pre-teens) claim, all excited, that the Dynacom gadget is "almost like a Playstation 2!" Poor unlucky callers...

EDIT: Just whatched the commercial. Its DOES come with 217 games: 111 in the console itself, 106 on a cart. And, although they avoid showing the screen like the plague, we can see it comes with Contra.

Both, the "2008 Infrazone" and the "Vii" have the 111 built-in games (Famicom wanna be games)....Also, this "Vii" includes a 6 Sports pack game cartridge which by the way, claims to be 16-bit......

I remember seeing another wii clone at my local Dollar General, it is call "Zone" for $50, but it didn't have a cartrige port connector...There is also another version of the "Vii" out there (very popular in China)without the Famicom cartridge port.... And the Penguin look a like Famiclone, wireless too....

i'd never seen these before. I wonder if they put these clones out to dupe old people into buying them for their grandkids under false pretenses. My son's great grandmother bought him a portable gaming device (looks like a psp) last year. she thought that's what it was and was excited to give it to him, thinking she'd got a really good deal on it. no one told her any different but she still asks to this day how much he plays it.

YouTube cheap hardware reviewer "Dr. Ashens" did a great review of the device earlier in the year that actually sold me on picking one up ... and when I checked eBay for pricing I was FLOORED to see them going for well over $100.

I'm glad to see that they're coming down in price. Hopefully some of the malls around me will have kiosks full of Greek guys selling them. I'm pretty good at haggling them down to the $20-$30 mark on this stuff.

The weird thing is that Vii cartridges look like GBA carts.

I wonder if they work in a GBA....

I've always wanted a Famiclone like a Polystation or a Vii, they look cool.

The Vii cartridges are probably the same (or similar to) cartridge hardware for the OneStation

Sorry. I'm already convinced. It's going to take more than that to convince me otherwise.

Ever notice you never see Zero Punctuation and Ashens in the same room at the same time?
