    Default Worst Mega Man stages

We all enjoy the mega Man games here in one form or another. But which levels do you find the worst to go through to fight the Robo Master/Maverick, etc?

Offhand for me right now, it's Plant Man in MM6. Decided to give 6 a shot on MM Anniversary, and I'm tearing my hair out with those stupid springs and fish coming out of the bottomless pits.

Also to this day hate Quick Man's stage.

I remember hating the hell out of Quick Man back in the day. Also from MM2, the Wily stage where you had to use Crash Bombs. That was a forced death for me when I got there with no ammo... and that's always a no-no for me in game design.

I can forgive it in earlier Sierra games though. "Oh, you mean you DIDN'T take the spinach dip from the cruise ship? DIE!"

Those two used to give me a lot of trouble too. But once you get the timing of pushing A to spring-jump in Plant Man's and where to go fall past the beams in Quick Man's, you're set. I don't even have to use the Time Stopper for the beams in Quick Man's stage anymore.

The one I never got the hang of was the parts of Crystal Man's stage with the falling crystals in 5. To this day I just use the Star Crash barrier to get through 'em. Also, although 2 is my favorite in the series, I never liked the part of Heat Man's stage with the classic disappearing blocks gag. I've done it once or twice by just jumping, but usually I lose patience and just use Item-2 to get across.

I definitely hate that Wily crash bomb boss disaster. You need almost all your energy for the crash bomb weapon! I don't know how you're supposed to beat that one in games like Mega Man Anniversary where you apparently can't do the pause trick(I haven't played MMA, so maybe you can).

The big one-eyed Wily stage boss in the first game was really difficult.

There are a lot of annoying MM stages, the games have always been really challenging.

Correction. You need ALL of your Crash ammo for that boss. The trick is that you shouldn't need Crash Bomb up to that point unless you're jonesing for an E tank or extra life.

You need to be fast for that level. It CAN be beaten in one go without wasting a single shot and without dying. You will learn the path, Grasshopper

It wasn't until a few years ago I learned to face that "boss" you need to take the walls out first, die, then go back to take out the guns since the walls don't regenerate (then it's a matter of spending a hour recharging the Crash Bombs...)

You can do it without dying. The trick is that you don't need to take out every wall; two of the lasers are behind walls that have space for you to use Items 1 and/or 3 to climb over, then just hit the laser itself with a Crash Bomb.

Still a pain, but at least you don't have to lose a life... unless you miss a shot and run out of Crash Bomb energy of course, which happened to me last time I played it.

I just don't have the patience for that kind of thing. I hated that boss when I was a kid and I hate him now! haha

    Any levels with spikes.

And that's like what, all of them?

The stage I disliked the most was the one in Mega Man 3 (Shadow Man?) in which the stage always turns dark. I haven't played it in two years but if I remember right, you had to kill an enemy to make the stage light again.

Personally, I hate any level in which enemies pop out of the death pits when you get near 'em. Dust Man's stage is a good example. I always forget about them and end up using rather colorful language to describe those little bastards.

Speaking of Dust Man, I remember when I first got the game way-back-when I had the hardest time with the crusher things about halfway through the stage, where you have to shoot out blocks of garbage and then run or slide under the crushers before they come down on you. Not sure why I had so much trouble with it in retrospect.

Always loved Dust Man's music though.

There aren't any regular Mega Man stages that I dislike.

Now with the crappy Mega Man Zero series it's an entirely different story. All the Mega Man Zero games are filled with cheap deaths. So the entire series gets my vote.

Quick Man from MM2 and Guts Man from MM1, I hated those stage for the longest time.

From the X series, the only stage I couldn't stand was Metal Shark Player and another stage from X6 that I can't remember. You're pretty much getting hit constantly and have to run for your life to survive. Bad stage design and lots of cheap deaths.

Quickman's stage gives me fits now and again, Crystal Man's stage I do without the star crash, and Heatman's stage I use item 2 every time, the disappearing blocks have frustrated me long enough as I can never remember the patterns for that many blocks in a row.

Crikey. You mean the stupid platforms in the Guts Man stage in MM1 don't merit a mention!?

Nothing worse than Mega Man 8's ski stages, or whatever they are called. I hate those stages far more than Gutsman's stage.

Forgot about those (I think I blocked out a lot from 8), but I think we have a winner.

I actually posted that in my first post above, then before actually finishing the post, I remembered the Mega Man Zero games. The hoverboard stages on MM8 are nothing compared to the crappy level designs and cheap deaths of the Zero games.

So yeah. I ended up deleting it and posting about the Zero games.

Anyways. Here's a tip. If you mute the sound while playing those hoverboard parts, they're much easier to get past and you'll probably complete the stages every time without dying. The reason you died, and the same reasons I did was because every time you heard the sound, they did it way too early and you would react to the "Jump! Jump!" instead of waiting until the edge. Muting the sound fixed the problem for me to where every time I get there, I just mute it and fly right through them. Both of them.
