    Default Reproduction Carts

Right, so the main reason why I finally stopped lurking here and became a member is this:

I'm looking into making a few Reproduction carts for myself. Mainly a couple RPGs that were never released in English, excepting fan-translations, and a couple of really rare titles that haven't ever seen re-release. Maybe also do some Homebrew stuff later on.

Now, I've got SOME knowledge of electronics [I'm an engineering student], but I don't know anything about Integrated Circuit components yet [As I said, I'm a Student, so I'm still learning], so I'm not too sure about some of the technical specifications for cartridges [Read: I have no idea what I'm doing and I don't want to needlessly destroy carts figuring it out].

I'd like some help on making Reproduction carts for the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis. Mainly the games I want to reproduce are Panorama Cotton on the Genesis, and Ranma 1/2: Hidden Treasure of the Crimson Cat Gang, using the English hack.

Well, I guess that sums up what I'm asking. Thanks in advance for the help, unless this topic violates rules in which case: sorry, didn't mean to.

Hm. That does answer some questions, but raises others. My first question is:

Do I have to use 8bit EPROM? What would it take to use 16bit EEPROM?

Getting one. That's all. Take in mind that his directions are the ones he used. Maybe 16Mbit EEPROMs werent as common in those days and he had to resort to 8Mbit EEPROMs.

Oh, I think I just figured it out. See, I was actually asking about the address width [8bit addressing vs 16bit addressing]. I thought that the SNES Mask ROM used 16bit addressing, and his modding was because he was using an 8bit and some sort of bank-switching to mimic 16bit addressing [again, I dunno if that is even possible, but that is how I misread it].

Well, that answers the SNES side of things. Thank you very much!
