Good games that are frustratingly difficult.

There are some games I love on one hand, but hate on another.

I love the original Road Rash on the Genesis, but I've never beaten it. It starts getting extremely difficult in the 4th level and starts pissing me off.

Resident Evil was great but I never actually beat it. Seemed to get really hard toward the end.

Same thing with RE: Code Veronica. I got stuck in the airship with the big ugly monster and saved with little life. Basically ruined the game.

Tempest 2000 is AWESOME but I've never beaten it without using a level skip cheat for several NASTY levels that are near impossible

Alien vs Predator is great fun but the Marine and Alien scenarios are extremely difficult. The Alien scenario really isn't that fun. The Marine is but damn, a lot of walking around mazes. Need a lot of patience for the game and even then, I'v never really come close to beating it without cheating.

final Fantasy X - Great game but I got owned toward the end over and over and gave up on beating it.

Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City - Fun games but they are so massive. Never beat either.

Zelda 1 NES, Link to the past, Ocarina and Majora's. All fun games, but never beat any of them. Just such massive games with so many puzzles. I get toward the end and it gets to the point where I'm more annoyed than having fun.

Rayman - great game but too darn difficult in later stages

Banjo Kazooie - great game but too massive

Cybermorph, actually is a good game but is hard and massive. I finally beat it after playing it off and on for over 10 years...

Then of course there are a ton of crappy games that are insanely hard and aren't fun at all. The games I listed are fun, but really hard to beat imo.

Ninja Gaiden III comes to my mind. Enjoyed the hell out of it but never could beat it. I beat the first two, though.

Ocarina of Time took 8 years to beat, with a damn strategy guide book. The water temple and the shadow temple both got me stuck. But it was probably cause I was 7 or so when I was in the shadow temple and honestly...I was stuck on one of the dumbest places ever. I should l2shadowlense moar.

That was also my ONLY zelda game outta like 30 I have that I beat.

, only Zelda games I ever beat were Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, and Ocarina of Time. I always used to use Gameshark and goof off in my games when I was young. Now I take them quite seriously... on Ganon's Castle on LttP.

Besides that, I'd say the Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog games. Either Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is ridiculously difficult, or I suck at Sonic games.

I think I might not be very good at video games, cause there are a lot of games I love, but that I just cannot beat.

Twisted Metal for example is very hard for me. But then again I only started playing it recently.

Strato Fighter or something like that. I have it on a Techmo Anthology game for Xbox.

Maybe it's just cause I don't play a lot of these very seriously. It's just something to kill time.

Some games I love, but have not conquered…

Battle Garegga (Saturn/Arcade)- Love this game… everything about it is amazing and I am always improving, but I doubt I will ever complete this game… There is so much depth to this game and multiple characters make for interesting.

Parasol Stars (TG-16)- The best in the Bubble Bobble series. So many secrets, bonuses, and scoring tricks… I don't mind if I never finish it… every play is as good as the last!

Alex Kidd in Miracle World (SMS)- I don't know how long this game is… but its a fun and engaging platformer and great fun every time.

Rush 'n Attack (NES)- Tough as nails, and extremely challenging, I can only get to stage 5 on my best days and can falter as early as stage 3. I love the music, atmosphere, and game play, but I just am not great at it. But I always come back for more punishment!

Ghost 'n Goblins (NES)- This game is ridiculous tough, but I still try… I am ok with never finishing this game the legit way

Gran Turismo franchise (PSX/PS2)- I really do not know if there is proper conclusion (closest I get is with GT2 and it was glitched) but its fun just for the playing of the game. I can live with never getting 100% or finishing the endurance races. Rest of game is fantastic!

Fatal Rewind (Genesis)- This game is crazy hard, but I enjoy what I can get out of it…

The Super Star Wars trilogy on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. All three games are ridiculously hard with the first being the hardest due to its lack of passcode level return.

Surprised Super Maio Bros 1 hasn't been mentioned yet. Consider I was a Master System lad so I never put in the marathon sessions on the game, but that game really is unforgiving in places.

Also F-Zero GX, and some of the Ridge Racers.

Oh I know now, FUCKING STREET FIGHTER. any of them, My record on XBLA is like 8 wins 165 loses I just can't beat anyone I suck so much. Maybe cause I need a joystick, but that's where I cross the line I'm not paying 150 bucks to play one game. Well maybe once it gets cheap it could be fun to use it for arcade games that suck with the analog stick.

Ninja Gaiden III comes to my mind. Enjoyed the hell out of it but never could beat it. I beat the first two, though.

The game can be conquered only after repeated playthroughs. After you know where everything is, it's a piece of cake.

For me it's Battletoads. I really want to give the game a chance, but it's insane difficulty puts me off.

Same here. It's a pretty fun and cool game until the hover bike level. Then it's just crazy hard.

I have never been able to beat Castlevania 1 and 3 for NES. I've tried several times in the past to beat the first Castlevania and just get my ass handed to me by Death and I simply just suck at 3.

Double Dragon 3 (NES) - at least, I think it's good. I can't remember the last time I went past the first level of that damn thing. But I just keep playing.

Exactly the same for me. SMB is pretty easy but I have yet to beat a single one of the classic Sonic games. They are ruthless at times.

what mario for me was hard, and sonic was incredibly easy, i beat sonic 1 and 2 on genesis i dont know how many times.
