Yes...
With a humble heart, on bended knee...
Don't play that, play Super Don Quix-ote instead.
I used to own both of these games for the computer. They were really hard :x
Wow. You're asking the members of Digital Press whether they've ever played Space Ace or Dragon's Lair, and whether anyone has beaten either one. Wow.has anyone beat these games
To answer your first question - Yes, I've played both. Zillions of times. In the arcades when first released and also on pretty much all of the home consoles they were released for. I also have the DVDs of both games. My Space Ace DVD was signed by Don Bluth at CGE 2001. Haven't picked up the Blu Rays yet.
To answer your second question - Yes, I've beaten both a zillion times. I usually lose a life or two on Dragon's Lair during play (damn lava men room gets me every time) but I always beat it. And Space Ace? That was my favorite and I can pretty much beat the game each time without losing a life. I had a friend who had the timing of DL down so well that he could play through with his eyes closed as long as someone told him what screen was on and whether it was the normal or mirror-flipped version of the room.
EDIT: And just to start up one of DP's favorite ongoing debates - Kimberly is much, much hotter than Princess Daphne. Yeah, I went there again.
Still Around...Still Gamin'...
I assume you mean "Clarissa" (AKA Clarise in Cagliostro). Fujiko is only briefly in the game based on her appearance in Cagliostro which is also minimal in comparison to most Lupin films ... technically in there, hotter yes, but not the "damsel in distress".
Also, yes, to the OP, Dragon's Lair and Space Ace can be baffling by today's gaming standards, but once you understand the play mechanics it's all about trial and error.
You need to hit either UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT or the ACTION button at the appropriate time.
Dirk or Dexter/Space Ace will go about their business and you need to TAP the appropriate direction at the appropriate time.
Is the character on a crumbling platform? Is there safe ground to the right? HIT RIGHT! Look for flashing sections to guide you ... they're not ALWAYS there, but more often than not they are.
Is a giant hand coming out of a door trying to grab you? HIT THE ACTION BUTTON!
Often times these movements happen in rapid succession so there's no time to blink.
Expect to die a lot.
Memorize everything and you'll be on your way to saving the Daphne and/or Kimberly.
And while I'm partial to red-heads ... Daphne's nipples are legendary stuff, worth getting to the Dragon's Lair just to take a peek at those suckers, they'll poke your eye out.
