Default A new site where gamers can trade games with other gamers...pretty cool!

Gamepro.com has a feature article about a site that lets gamers trade games with other gamers at values that are set by users. It seems like a good idea, and sounds like a better idea than going into Gamestop or Best Buy and getting jack shit for your games. Here's the article: http://www.gamepro.com/article/previ...-game-trading/

I'll stick to GameTZ. This site sounds... a bit fishy for some reason.

So is this the new GameTZ, where gamers can post up their collections that they love and won't trade?

Anyone who puts up their collection on that site is just asking for it, seriously. :P

I only list the stuff I want to TRADE.

GameTZ already has the ability to list "collection" stuff that is not for trade.

This sounds like a shill piece.

You've never had the displeasure of having some random idiot who can't read nag you again and again because he wants something in your collection.

It's why I don't use the collection side of things, only trade.

I use Swaptree to trade CDs, DVDs and video games and I really like how the system is run and set up. Plus, stuff like cases and artwork aren't optional -- it's stated in the rules that it must be included. I personally recommend it (and I wasn't sent from the site, either ).

NOT QUITE AN EDIT: Swaptree also supports the following platforms: PC/Mac, PS2 and 3, PSP, Wii, Xbox and 360, Game Boy Advance, Gamecube, Nintendo DS as well as Dreamcast. I'm not sure if they accept anything older than that.

    Okay.

THIS interests me. I have a ton of books that I can possibly trade away using this service... and a few people there seem to have some CDs I've been looking for...

I myself have never had the desire to "show off" what I have. I collect games so my friends, family, & I can enjoy them. I really could care less what any other person thinks about my collection. I guess many people just have to feed their egos though.

Sounds similar to Goozex, which uses a credit system to equate value and a priority queue system to match people. I enjoyed using Goozex to get cheap Xbox 360 games, but they only go back as far as Dreamcast as well.

I completely agree. I would never post pics of things I collect like games.

Looks like a pretty good site. I use paperbackswap.com and swapacd.com for books and music. Both work well and are based on a credit system.

Do people use CheapAssGamers or GOOSEX any more? Those are the only sites I've ever utilized for trading, outside of a few times on Backloggery.

I wonder if Gamepro got paid for this "feature."

It was probably one of their "ads" in disguise. What may seem like a story written by the magazine may be nothing more than a cleverly placed ad to draw in peeps.

I don't understand how they can (with the paid insurance) "guarantee" that you'll get the game you're expecting in the event that the other trader doesn't come through with their end of the bargain.

What if it's something rare/valuable like a boxed Chrono Trigger for SNES ... or MVC2 for PS2?

Does the site have some kind of magical stockpile of rare games for such an occasion?
