    Default Castlevania for DC

This topic was probably discussed before but I was wondering if anyone has a demo of the unreleased Castlevania for the DC, I never knew that there was one in the making for DC until recently, so if anyone has it I just wanted to know how it plays?

I don't think it even made it past proto stages, sadly

IIRC, it was almost done but scrapped for not being "Castlevania-y" enough.

Thats cool, I didn't even know they were making one. I'd have bought it if it had come out.

I've got a number of DC Castlevania related things...on my harddrive.

Some group (that remains anonymous to this day) released the music as complete as it was when the project was quit; it's all at the Castlevania Dungeon.

Recently, somebody found some QuickTime movies (which I have as well) that show the intro movies at a very early stage. We're talking pencil sketches that were animated via computer. As far as theatricals go, they're crap, but they're drawn pretty well.

The game wasn't very complete in terms of physics (in gameplay movies Sonia, one of your characters, skates around a bit) and the levels seen were horrible (comparable to the current LoI screenies, though...)

The models were all over the board in terms of interest and apparent polish--one scene shows Sonia fighting two bright things that look for all the world like technicolor scarecrows on the steps of some church. Very nice. Other screenshots show horribly low-poly skull towers (awful, sub N64-quality, blocky) and the silly (Sonia being chased by two large, green, grinning snakes).

Storyline? Victor Belmont (from the 1800s) and Sonia Belmont (1200s or so, I believe, from CV Legends) have been summoned to London in 1666, year of the great fire (Charles was sort of king in periods around this time). Blah blah...looked like they were grasping for a storyline.

It was being developed here in the states, so it's no wonder it got canned.

I waited with much anticipation for the arrival of this title but sadly ut was scraped.

I wonder if it ever will surface in some form or another one day.

Sadly? The only thing sad about DreamCastlevania was that they wasted money and some folks' time for a few months trying to get a decent screenshot or two together.

Will it ever appear again in some form or other? Barring the appearance of unreleased game files in the future (which COULD have happened by now, unless somebody's afraid of a NDA or something) by a former project member, I can give you a definitive No.

Iga hated the 3D CV games made at KCEK (Konami Kobe) bad enough...since he's already working on erasing Sonia Belmont from the timeline (she'll no longer be the "first Belmont" and he's voiced an opinion that it's not a proper thing to have a strong leading woman...I honestly can't say this is better or worse than a "Lets bring Sonia back because shes a CHIK lol!" idea apparently behind the thinking of the US CV). I'm not terribly concerned (chauvunistic tendencies noted, and Iga was indeed stating this as if it was a fact of the market...as if they've ever looked at the USA :/) because our "friends" in Tokyo know the series, and even if they hate us the game will be Castlevania, just in a different dimension.

    Ack, that's all for now.

Hmmmmmmmmm.....between the death of DC Castlevania and the sadness that Timestalkers was when it could have been SO much more....I was really sad about the DCs lineup at first....course, they made up for it

I tried to track one this down a year or two ago.

I was told that the DC code was never started. That any still shots you may have seen were "faked". I dunno if this is true but I went pretty high up the ladder and tend to believe him.
