I don't get what's supposed to be ironic about it. o_O
Also, the whole point of the meme was how Engrishy the English translation in the European version was. I'm sure whatever he's saying in Japanese there sounds normal and natural if someone translated it properly.
It's not just the fact he's there, but what he's saying.

Kanji is hard.
You can know how to read Japanese (Hiragana and Katakana) and still not be able to read something, because of Kanji. For instance, I can read about 150-200 kanji at the moment, but there are about 2000 commonly used, and I don't know the Kanji in that screenshot.

Yes it is! The kana are OK to read because it's easy to read them when they are small but I can't read the entire top line. It's just a collection of pixels all running together.
Maybe it's easy to read on your computer, but where I am reading it now, I can't make out shit.
Yes it is. My wife is Japanese and she can't even get all of it. It IS too small to make out some of the characters. Plus, there's no furigana to help. It makes both of our eyes bleed.
In other words, you suck because you don't know what you're talking about and find that picture funny (not sure how it is ironic).
