Playing through Godhand (PS2) on Hard mode. I know it can be done, but I really don't have the patience to even begin cracking that nut.

Kingdom Hearts. Oh look, I slid off another platform I was firmly planted on.

THERE. IS. NO. EXCUSE. FOR. BAD. COLLISION. DETECTION.

At least it was fixed in Kingdom Hearts II, which just made me want to try to play the first one again.

    Default Gradius 3 Arcade

Gradius 3 Arcade, no such thing as up up, down down left right left right b a. Oh no, you die you may as well stop playing. Plus the game is not forgiving at all. Even Gradius IV was much easier.

Silent Hill 4: The Room - Not because it was difficult, but because it sucked so much ass.

Resident Evil Zero - Again, I quit because I simply lost interest. I love survival horror games, but RE0's partner system ruined the atmosphere for me and the game ended up boring me to tears.

There are a ton of games I shelved because I didn't really care for them, but these two were different in that I had very high expectations for them. I typically complete the games that I play, so when I shelf one in a series or genre that I'm a fan of, it's noteworthy.

Also, most bullet hell shooters. I enjoy them for their aesthetic, but I never put in the time to learn all of the bullet patterns, and since I never continue in arcade style games, I never end up beating them.

Mega Man X4 - I can breeze through the whole game - up until the last stage - with either character. I just can't beat the last version of sigma. Still love that game though.

Zombies Ate my Neighbors - not HUGELY hard, but it's just so damned long. that, and the fact that you have 10 neighbors to rescue, and the losses stack between levels.

Silent Hill 4: The Room - Not because it was difficult, but because the second half was the same as the first half but in reverse.

Guilty Gear X2 - I-no is a bitch. Eff her and that guitar spam attack. Controller go SMASH! (had a pic somewhere..)

Top Gun (nes) - Doesn't matter how well I played a stage, I never could land on the damn aircraft carrier. Except once on accident. Haven't played this game in years, man I should see if it's still as hard.

Ironically, MM7 is the only MM game I've beaten so far, go figure. The last boss in MMX gave me fits, and he's supposedly real easy too. Might have to give him another go at some point. Dr. Wily in MM7 is easy if you use a certain weapon...

I'll state the obvious: Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts

Exile: Wicked Phenomenon. Anyone that's tried to progress in that game will understand why.

Ghost and Goblins. Seriously. It was the only game that made me want to destroy it and send it to where it belongs: hell.

    Sonic & Black Knight.

I actually enjoyed Secret Rings, despite a few flaws and played it thoroughly. But this.. eugh. The sword fighting does not work, it's dull, repetitive and is not in synch with the motion controls. I got to the Blaze boss fight and just gave up.

It remains the only 3D Sonic game I haven't completed. Maybe one day I will but meh...

Super Mario Bros. 3 World 8

As a kid I tried to get past it hundreds of times. Didn't beat it until 1997.

The first thing that comes to mind is the Ninja Gaiden series on the NES. I've been able to get to the final boss in the first one, but could never beat him. I get almost nowhere in the third one.

Once you get the hang of it, landing on the aircraft carrier is very easy. (Keep in mind, when the game tells you "Up," you actually have to press down on the d-pad, and vice versa.)

I guess victor ireland admitted somewhere that when they ported that over they accidentally fucked up some code somewhere that threw off the difficulty balance. I could never beat the grim reaper boss, even after hours of grinding. Too bad because it's actually a good game.

Legacy of the Wizard has haunted me since 5th grade. I try and try, but to no avail. Xemn's area was the final straw.

    Mega Man 8

I managed to beat all 8 robot masters and got to Wily's fortress...only to be stopped by one of those stupid hoverboard stages, which just had to be the 1st stage up in his fortress. No matter how many times I tried, I couldn't get past that part; leading to me throwing in the towel and skipping to MM9

Amen. I tried to get through that damn game and couldn't make it, over and over. What was worse was my brother made it to the end after repeated tries. I could only make it about two-thirds into the game at best.

Futurama on the Xbox. The game was fairly fun to play until you had to play as Leela and go through a room with pillars that sink into lava, jumping from platform to platform. The problem was that the camera wouldn't keep up with you, so you'd eventually jump into lava and die. I went from having something like 17 extra lives to nothing in just a few minutes. Gave up on the game after that.

That fucking final boss stage in Sly Cooper 1.

Oh sure, I can shoot the bastard down. But getting to Clockwork while platform jumping, on a timer, with lasers shooting at you? And if you die, you have to do it all over again, INCLUDING THE FUCKING SHOOTING SEQUENCE? (A good FIVE MINUTES)

FUCK YOU, SUCKER PUNCH. THAT'S NOT HOW YOU MAKE A GOOD GAME.

Chuck Norris Superkicks (2600) and Last Battle (Genesis). No idea how a human could finish those games legit.

I've pretty much mastered and beaten all the G&G games, all the NES Ninja Gaidens, the Mega Mans, and I even finished Top Gun.

However I do remember giving up on one game.. Actraiser 2 on the SNES. That game was impossible to me.
