I seem to remember it being discussed here a long time ago. I also remember seeing it on ebay a long time ago. If I was a bigger collector I would snag it.

I vaguely remember seeing this in gaming magazines, but I've never seen one outside of that.

I've never come across one, but I read about these on assembler years ago. I'd pick it up of it were in my area. $125 doesn't seem too bad, especially if the sewing machine is actually good.

that is bizarre... like a gameboy printer only an embroidery machine. truly a collectors item. I'm not really sure what demographic they were marketing that toward, though. (Probably why it never took off)

Yeah, i saw this in a 1999 issue of EGM if I recall. Really cool gimmicky Japanese thingy. I'd get it for $125 for sure.

We have one of these complete in the box. We paid $200 for it, I think. Don't bother if it doesn't have the GB cart (as shown in orangest's link). With the GB system and cart, it's worth it to snag the system for $125, box or no box.

That's nothing. There's a gameboy color color app that allows you to remove the speed inhibitor on a series of motorbike/scooters. California is none to pleased about this since they don't want scooters at 40mph on the highways.

The nes controller for parapelgics is my fave weird crap but the gameboy sewing machine and snes exercise bike are close followers.

It was the April 2001 issue of EGM - at least, that's an issue I have which directly references it.

It makes sense, at least in hindsight. How many household devices are available today with an LCD display? My printer cost $20 and has a color backlit LCD that's better than the GBC display. Back then, they saw the usefulness of a display and input system, but it was cheaper to implement this way than to actually include the hardware in the device itself.

I'm sure that there's plenty of "premium" model sewing machines available today with similar functionality, but the hardware is built-in now.

They had a bunch of these at Big Lots some years ago... Think they were ~$100. So yeah, I've seen a few of them. They didn't do anything for me at all.

Oh yes! Large touch screens are available on some. The wife's embroidery machine connects to her laptop via USB. That sucker was almost $1000... The ones with the big touch screens and built in software make that seem very cheap. There are some design station type units that cost as much as an economy class car.

Holy guacamole! I need to know more about this. I Googled for like ten minutes to no success. What's the scoop?

GBA was used for on-the-fly CPU tuning also. I think they used a flashcart for the software though. Mostly rice burners... Go figure.

The scooters are called "Aprilias". From what I understand they actually have a programing component on them that uses a gameboy color cart for speed controlling. All someone had to do was create a rom hack that let you do whatever you want and bam, super fast scooter. The real cart it's self is only given out by aprillia dealers & the like, so it's one of the rarest gameboy color games to my knowledge.

    Here's a picture.
