    Default Michigan Pinball Expo- Pix

Well, I had posted this on Sega-16 a bit before the site went down, but I figure someone here may enjoy the pix as well. Basically, I heard about the MI Pinball Expo on Monday last week & made plans to attend that Friday.

Now, I never got to enjoy arcades when I was young, but I've been getting into playing pinball at a local arcade over the last month or so. At some point, I'd like to have some machines of my own...but there is neither $$ nor space, lol.

    Here are the pix-

Sorry about the quality about the pix- the camera doesn't always want to cooperate.

Sweet. What city does this expo take place in and how long has it been occurring? Haven't lived in Michigan for almost 6 years now, but this would always give me an additional reason to return.

From what I gather, this was only the 2nd annual expo - judging by the turnout on Friday, I'd say they have more than enough interest to do it again. It was held in Rochester; info is on their site: http://www.mipinball.com/

I went Sunday this year, and it's definitely expanded since the first year (which I also attended.) I don't count myself as being particularly good at pinball, but it's one of the few chances I have to play the really old games and pick up some tips from other players, and it was really fun introducing my friend's 10 year old brother to pinball machines in the first place

Also, which local arcade has pinball? I only know Marvin's and Pinball Pete's as having any decent machines.

It's not much of an arcade (about 5 pinball machines & 5 arcade cabinets), but it's in the Taylor Trade Center on Ecorse Rd. I normally browse the various video game vendors then pump a few quarters into a pinball machine when I go. Not much, but it's still fun for a beginner such as myself.

The owner only comes in on weekends, so when a machine goes down, it normally stays down for awhile. I'm hoping he'll have the Star Wars machine back up and running this weekend tho. Otherwise, I'll probably go a couple rounds on the Challenger arcade machine.

I love some of those old 60's and 70's pinball machines. My dad had a Gottlieb pinball machine from the late 60's called Home Run. I could roll the numbers multiple times per play, but I still played it a lot to perfect my flipper play.

I was playing Pinball in the early 70's, before videogames took over my arcade interests. I really miss a good game of pinball nowadays, as even when I do see a machine, they're usually not balanced and poorly maintained.
