Default Mike Tyson defeats himself on Punch-Out (Jimmy Fallon)

First, Fox News made a big deal about it - and now Fallon exploits Tyson. Any thoughts on this?

Sacrilege!! He's playing on the RetroN 5 instead of an actual NES!!!

I would've been real shocked, actually, if Mike made it past the first round.

Hah I was so into the rest I didn't even catch that, he is playing in HD on a black Retron5. Just last year was the first time he ever touched the game before and Glass Joe kicked his ass. I don't remember him ever really even connecting on Joe, I think it was a blow out, so the fact he even lasted that long against his digital self was kind of nice to see.

Jimmy could of mentioned that it was on the NES. Nintendo can use any promotion at this point

Haha thanks! And yes, I get that a lot about John Cusack. I also get Josh Radnor from "How I Met Your Mother".

It was done to avoid product placement and mention of branding. Notice that the Retron5 used isn't mentioned by name, and the Punch-Out cart itself is facing label side away from the camera.

It's been a crazy week, but my dad made it out of surgery and is recovering well. Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it. I'm just really glad things are back in a positive direction.

I've spent many hours with the original on Playstation, but never played the sequel. I've heard it's ridiculously difficult, though. If you could kindly recruit a Space Harrier in there when you've got an opening.. though I doubt he will last long

Also, I've read that the research tree is kind of borked in this one, and you can actually get perma-stuck if things aren't done in the 'proper' order. Good luck!

Space Harrier will make fine fodder. I'll have you in there as soon as I can.

I downloaded the XcomUtil patch which is supposed to fix the research bugs, hopefully it works. I also have a research tree I pulled from a forum that has the safe order.

    Default I ♥ Virtual Console

Hey gang. In the past year, I've struck up a friendship with the guys over at Nintendo Life. They've long been supporters of my Sega gaming channel "The Sega Channel". At some point recently, I was asked to join the Nintendo Life team and create a new series for them. The result is "I ♥ Virtual Console", a series that will dive into Virtual Console wish list titles as well as titles already released. The first episode I've produced is for the game Monster Party, which has somewhat of a "cult following" with NES fans.

Would love to hear your feedback! Hope you enjoy, and Happy Halloween!

    - Tyler

Solid video, good cover and exposure of what was hacked out of it. Not long ago there was a situation where a famicom prototype had been out there a long time, I believe in english, but some Japanese buyer who intentionally buys up protos got it for the sole purpose of keeping it out of the publics hands never to be seen or a copy of it made public, selfish type basically. The Nolan bros found another one online and snapped it up, then released it so people could see the original content and it's a fascinating comparison which you hit on in the video.

The only criticism I have, rebalance the audio as the 8bit jams there were a bit too loud in general and also made it hard to understand you a bit too through my laptop speakers.

I was hoping they'd use a real NES and the game would glitch up in the middle of the fight and they'd have to blow on it

Of course they needed to use a Retron 5 with a save state to get right to the Tyson fight but still. . .

Yea the game was officially licensed to have Tysons name right? I'd find it hard to believe that in all these decades he never played the game bearing his name and likeness before.

I guess it's not true, if that image was him playing and not posing. I just remember the guy saying on TV he had never played it before, but as much as he has been hit in the head, he probably doesn't remember a lot of things.
