Default Neo Geo CD for sale

I bought a Neo Geo CD system a while back on a hunch that I could fix it- it would occasionally read discs but not always- it got disc errors.

I adjusted the laser strength, which didn't help much. I bought a new laser for it, but it still had the same problem. Assuming maybe I got a bad laser, I got a 3rd one, but same problem.

UPDATE: The unit works perfectly now. I noticed that the disk rubbed against the surrounding tray before, but never thought to check that the spindle was pushed down. Someone forced it down (there is no stop) causing the disc to run too close to the laser. I adjusted it up and it boots games perfectly now.

Main unit in the box (not original styro) with new laser, one controller, power supply, and Samurai Shodown 3 original disk+case.

    $150+ shipping from 30907 USA

I also have an extra new laser, tested, for $20 + shipping.

Have you used any actual game discs with it, or just burnt copies?

Does it actually give you an error message?

I've gotten it to load a couple games burned onto the little 3" CD's you see in the picture, on occasion, while playing with the laser adjustment. These seem to be single-load games with no CDDA. A full burned disc with CDDA might start to load then get an error before the game begins. It seems it has trouble finding the tracks properly or something.

I've never tried to turn the laser adjustment more than 1/8 turn either direction. I've learned from experience on the PS2 with burning out lasers.

I bought an original on eBay recently, but it's coming from Japan. I'll test with that... The unit is still for sale as-is, though.

You might be able to find an original NGCD game for cheap, maybe KoF '94 or Fatal Fury 3 or something to test it with. The system might be totally fine, with the copied discs being the issue.

Well, someone would have gotten a good deal. All the lasers are good.

The only problem was that the spindle was pushed down too low. It doesn't really lock on the shaft and someone pushed it down at some point. Pulled it back up and it boots games perfectly.

    Relisted due to deadbeat bidders.

Your shipping says $43 for me, but since we both live in the states it shouldn't be anywhere near that much (you could likely flat rate it for $15, maybe even less if it fits in a medium sized box). Just a heads-up.

... Unless he's sending it EMS or entered the wrong weight. I'm getting the same shipping as you.

    Exclamation

Not sure, but I only charge actual shipping and used the auto-calc based on 12 pounds. I know it shows 17 shipped to myself.

Pretty sure that it won't go in any flat rate... if shipping is wrong I will refund.
