Default Somebody needs to do a kickstarter for a brand new FMV game like Night Trap or...

I've been thinking for a number of years that it would be really cool if somebody got ahold of the masters for the film that was used by Digital Pictures, and if they could redo games like Sewer Shark and Night Trap and Ground Zero Texas. Make the video quality as good as it could possibly be, make the gameplay very quick and responsive. It would be cool. Put 4 or 5 FMV movies together, and off it on PSN and Xbox Live Arcade for like $15 or whatever...

Either that, or start a brand new FMV game, with games like Sewer Shark and Ground Zero Texas as the inspiration. Full screen, high def picture, 5.1 sound, etc, etc..

Someone just needs to make Corpse Killer compatible with Kinect

Joking aside, I think this is a great idea. Will it ever happen though? highly unlikely. people have lost a lot of interest in point and click adventures which is a tragedy that needs remedied. Maybe a new FMV point and click game would tighten the loose knot, I'd love to see that

He lies. This one is clearly not wearing a wifebeater, or a bra.

The Curfew is an online game, probably the only recent FMV game. It's pretty good, but not traditional because it's online, I suppose.

There are actually a handful on Xbox Live Indie Games, but I can't recall any titles unfortunately.

Not sure about the others but Night trap deal is no one knows who owns the rights to the game http://www.facebook.com/groups/16161582556/ (Night trap group on facebook) Stephen seems to have a lot of the source material for both Night trap and Scenes of a crime

I know SOMEONE owns the rights to the Digital Pictures games AND the footage. I just wish I knew -who-.

I have a movie made up of half original footage, and the other half is a bunch of game footage from DP's games.

Unless Hideo Kojima starts using FMV's for his in-game cutscenes I don't ever see this happening. And thats a good thing because I really don't want to see a live action naked Raiden running around holding his crotch.

By the way, I think Ground Zero Texas is a highly underrated FMV game from that era. I like it a wee bit better than Sewer Shark or Night Trap. Sewer Shark is pretty cool though, because I just love the cheesy acting in that one. Night Trap is certainly decent, but if I could only get one FMV game remade or remastered, it would be Ground Zero Texas.

    This person speaks the truth!

Ground Zero Texas is one of my favorite SegaCD games because of how it's fun to play and fun to watch. The only frustrating thing is if you've only got part of the codes to defuse the bomb at the end of the second (I think?) part and need to randomly guess.

I'd also totally be down for an updated FMV game, or even a new one in the same vein

Back in 2010 I started a thread asking something similar and got a lot of informative responses. I wish Wirehead HD would be released as a downloadable.

    Here's the thread:

You know, the encouraging thing is the fact that there are all these people out there that want old school, classic point and click type adventure games, and 20 years later they are seeing a resurgence. You have to imagine that eventually some indy developers who grew up playing Sewer Shark will decide to try to make a new FMV game. It's bound to happen. Just a question of how long will we have to wait..

The Tex Murphy game that came out earlier this year has FMV. I've heard it's pretty good too.

It is. Too bad the guys behind the project can't get the physical rewards out to the Kickstarter backers on a timely basis. It has been over three months since the game came out and they still can't provide an ETA.

I backed the Night Trap Revamped as I am pretty excited about the possibility of other FMV games, and especially some of the unreleased DP titles getting a release down the road.

I'm in for $20, I really hope they meet the stretch goal and get it on Wii U, cause that would be ideal with your TV having full screen video, and all the controls being on the touchpad.

I probably could have told you two years ago when I actually wrote the comment. Now I can't even remember posting in this thread.
