Lightbulb Shadowrun Returns concludes Kickstarter at $1.8 million in contributions [Joystiq]

Shadowrun Returns finished its Kickstarter funding round with a total of $1,895,772 in donations to the cause. Announced earlier this month, the project was hoping to raise $400,000 to bring a Shadowrun sequel to PC, iOS and Android as a "graphically rich 2D turn-based single player game."

After hitting some funding milestones, developer Harebrained Schemes and Shadowrun creator Jordan Weisman will include Mac and Linux support, and dole out some physical rewards for contributions. Next, Harebrained Schemes has to make the game and meet some high expectations.Shadowrun Returns concludes Kickstarter at $1.8 million in contributions originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 30 Apr 2012 12:45:00 EST. Will the game be free then if they took donations to fund development?

No. Everyone who donated will receive a copy of the game, plus whatever bonus stuff their donation level entitles them to. Kickstarter isn't really about donating, since the technical definition of the word means to freely give without expectation of a return. It's more like pre-ordering a game far, far in advance, or investing in the development in exchange for the completed game and assorted rewards. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Crap, I've been so broke lately I was unable to donate. I assume I can still get the game when it is release, but what about a physical copy?

Neither do I now that your post gives me a better understanding of just what this involves.

I think he asked that because of Victor Ireland's kickstarter, which didn't even offer copies of the games to the lower-tier donators.

I wish I could've chipped in to this, but curse my brokenness.
