Default Sega 32X No AV - Nice Buzzing Sound

I found a loose 32X in the basement today, take it upstairs, and test it out. No audio, no video, but there's a loud buzzing (almost crying-like) sound coming from the system. I'm thinking blown capacitor but I'd like a second opinion before I put some time aside to disassemble it.

84000, non-revision model. I remember reading about some issues with these but it's been a while since I've had to work on one. Tried with a Model 2.

Do you have a suitable power adapter? 32X can't work without its own source.
    Lum fan.

    Indeed; connected with a known-working MK-2103.

Could be a bad connection on the ribbon cables, here is a disassembly guide http://sonic-cult.org/articles/32x/

The sound might be from a choke (IIRC) which doesn't really help much with the overall problem.
I fix things. You name it, I'll work on it. Want something modded? Recapped?
