Slow down and practice more on the same game. That's the advice we were given as kids.

Play easier games, or even games you can't lose at. Take your time, and watch game review videos.

A part of me wants to say "suck it up and take it like a man," but...

Personally, sucking at a game never bothered me. I have to use a million continues to get through any Fighter and I also can't beat any shmup without credit-spamming (and some shmups like R-Type don't really get easier if you do) but I still enjoy them anyway. But there's always a sense of accomplishment when you get a little farther, and when you start S-Ranking missions in Devil May Cry. Seeing yourself improve is what makes gaming worth it.

I think I just explained why Ryu is on a never-ending training mission.

Um, what games are you playing? If you tell I or others may know some easier games in the same genre to cut your teeth on.

Heres some genre easy to play games that Ive played.

    3D Platforming
Spyro 1 through 3 and Ape Escape on the PS1.
    Jak and Dextar on PS2
Banjo and Kazooie and Mario 64 on the N64

    2D platforming
    Mario games
    No CASTLEVANIA games

    Space Shooters
    None of them

    Run N Gun
Metal Slug, just keep choosing to continue

    Fighting
Any and every Capcom VS SNK or Marvel games
No NEO GEO games, theyre really complex and tough

    RPG
    Final Fantasy 7
    Zelda Ocarina of Time
Stay away from Saga and Persona games.

    Racing
I just wanted to say Mario Kart 64 and Crash Team Racing are the only racing games I need.

There's no shame in playing your games on easy mode, if that option is available. Games are supposed to be fun.

I suggest two things. You could start using guides, youtube videos and taking it slowly. Or, if all else fails, go download a sex simulator because if you suck that bad you'll probably S rank the blowjob simulator.

Are you playing to beat a high score/beat a level or are you playing to have fun?

    This needs a big one.

Keep practicing. Anything worth doing takes effort.

Advice nothing, it's just what we did.

I don't think anyone ever beat a game on their first try(before the last 3 generations anyway), so there's no real inherent "gaming skillz," or anything, just those who practiced a lot vs. those who gave up, and said "this sucks."

Try using some Game Genie and Gameshark codes on RPGs to give your characters infinite life so you can enjoy the story until you get good enough to know what you're doing.

I'm a collector, but only to a certain extent.
Not as extreme as Rickstilwell though.[/quote]

I wouldn't really go with cheat codes. They might make you dependant on them, or they might skew your perception of the game's difficulty.

When I was younger, I Game Genie'd a lot, but I didn't really improve my skill as a gamer until I cut that out. Now I can beat TMNT 2: The Arcade Game on a single "credit", compared to my younger self's inability to break past stage 4.

Anyway, along with the other advice going around, one other good one to give; check the quality of your game controllers. You don't want your game being messed up because a button got stuck or broken.

The thing is it dosent bother me because they are still fun. I just really have a hard time with the hand eye, controller, button coordination. on top of that, i was told i was color blind co all the motion and colors confuse me. I will try some of the games mentioned because I was just wondering, are there any just FUN games that aren't hard and just fun to play.

There are a lot of really easy and fun games out there.
Just name a system and I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions.
If you have issues with even the easy games, maybe you should try genres that don't rely on hand-eye coordination, like point-and-click adventures, farming sims, or turn-based strategy.

    Failing that, get a Wii.

There's no shame in devices known as Game Genie and Game Shark.

On many 2600 games there is a teddy bear level for easiest playing.

Yes there is, but not all the time.

Also, what pwuaioc said, focus on one game. Getting better at it will boost your confidence for other games.

Right now Im using codes to play Chrono Trigger. Its an easy as hell game, and I should have mentioned it up there, but I mainly just want to get to the story, and defeat things easy. Plus I lost my save state after playing for a week. I never use codes on fighting games. When its a game based on how well you play to win, instead of just how long it takes you to win the game, I dont use a code. If I can use a code to bypass grinding in a game that isnt just grinding for grinding sake then Ill just by pass the 10s of hours not devoted to story.

But also I think its cool how codes can make you play as different characters or have special abilities all the time, thats really cool.

Sometimes. Sometimes I'd get so frustrated I'd want to throw the controls. Ghouls and Ghosts for the Genesis made me like that. Funny thing is, I don't have the patience for that game like I did when I was a kid.
