Default Top imports - Super Famicom

You knew this was coming next from me, didn't you?

Admittedly, all of the imports I own for the SF made it out in the states except for Ganbare Goemon 2. I've played a few others via ROMs, but never for very long.

So, since I'm not really counting ROMs, here's my lone pick:

Ganbare Goemon 2: Kiteretsu Shougun Matsuginesu - Much, much better than the original Goemon for the SF. Being able to choose from Goemon, Ebisumaru or... the character who's name I can't remember is a nice plus, plus you can play XEXEX in the amusement park!

Mario & Wario - It's like Lemmings with Mario characters, in a way. Wario drops a bucket on Mario's head and you use the mouse to click on the terrain so he can safely walk from one point of the level to another. Unique at least.

Kunio no Oden - If you love arcade puzzlers and you're looking for a new one, this is your game.

Mario's Super Picross - GET IT NOW. ^_^

From what I did play of Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie, it seemed pretty damned impressive. If I could have played it longer, I'd probably recommend it too.

Well, I only have a handful, but I highly recommend:

Go Go Ackman 1, 2, and 3: A series of platformers from Akira Toriyama of Dragon Warrior/DBZ fame, about a rather evil boy and his pet demon. Full of tongue and cheek animation, fun as hell to play, and with great control. Easy for non-Japanese speakers too. They usually run around $20-30 per game, and there's 3 of em, all good!

Also rather enjoy Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie, but it's DAMNED hard, and kinda spendy. Usually runs between $50 and $100, and is at the low right now. VERY VERY difficult horizontal shmup!

Front Mission is also very cool if you're into strategy games. You can't read the story of course, but ALL the menus are on English, so it's easily playable, rare for an import strategy game

I also agree on Goemon 2. A great game. Others:

The Parodius series - Can't go wrong on any of them.

Tsuyoshi Taisen Pazurudama - Still my favortie puzzle game of all-time.

Hebereke no Gishii Puzzle ha Irimasenka - Fun puzzle game featring the characters of Uforia. The only problem is the text-heavy crossword puzzles!

Wish me luck, I'm going to give Final Fantasy V a try with only a dictionary to help me. I hear the Anthologies translation was crap so I figured this was the best way.

Definately agree with Goemon 2. Fantastic game. Really really wish it came out in the US. Goemon 3 is also really good, though that one seems to require a lot more Japanese knowledge to get through. And 4 I haven't played through much of, but from what I did I was a little disappointed. I didn't like how the game forced you to be certain characters in certain worlds.

Didn't care for Mario & Wario oddly enough. To slow paced.

And I didn't care for Mario's Picross either... it's a glorified Mindsweeper clone.

Hmmmmm... well, Superbomberman 3, 4, & 5 are worth your time if you're into the single player experice that Bomberman offers. Othewise, pass. The multiplayer modes are crap.

Mindsweeper? Please point me in the direction of this game. Sounds like I'd like it. Unless you're talking about the Windows game Minesweeper, which didn't hold my interest for long...

Mario's Picross is nothing like Minesweeper at all. To say that it is, is a rather large generalization (they are both puzzle games with numbers and a grid). Definitely a great game though.

Ranma 1/2: Ougijaanken: (I think that's the name of it...I can't read Japanese) Puzzle game combining rock/paper/scissors with columns & tetris style game play.

I cannot believe you suggested Cho Aniki... not only is it a horrible game, but it is completely geared to homosexual men.

Still a fun shooter if you're not a homophobe. I'd recommend it too.

The snes Cho Aniki isn't a shooter. It is a strange fighting game with these gay men flying around in these wierd crafts.

I just bought Umihara Kawase on ebay yesterday. Hopefully I get it next week!

Ai Cho Aniki is definitely a shooter. A non-traditional shooter, but a shooter nonetheless. And how do you know they're gay?
