    Default Best Outputs For Certain Systems

    I have a list of consoles that I want to hook up and get the best quality out of, thing is I made the list before I was comfortable with modding my consoles so all of these are ways of hooking them up with no mods, please tell me if there is a better output, wheter it be a mod or not:

    NES - Composite
    SNES - S-Video
    Sega Genesis - SCART -> SCART/HDMI Adapter -> HDMI
    Sega CD - SCART -> SCART/HDMI Adapter -> HDMI
    Sega 32X - SCART -> SCART/HDMI Adapter -> HDMI
    Sega Saturn - S-Video
    Nintendo 64 - S-Video
    Playstation - S-Video
    Sega Dreamcast - VGA Adpapter -> VGA -> VGA to HDMI Converter -> HDMI
    Playstation 2 - Component
    XBOX - Component
    Gamecube - Component (Yes i know the GC Component cable is rare as ^^^^)

    You can get RGB out of the SNES, Saturn and PSX using the same setup as you have listed for the Genesis+SCD+32X, no mods needed. You can perform RGB mods on the NES and N64 but with some caveats. Performing an RGB mod on the NES requires you replacing the PPU with an RGB-capable PPU that is fairly expensive and hard to find, and then you need to build an amplifier to make the RGB signals useable. For the N64, only early models can be modded and you need to build a small amplifier circuit as opposed to wiring up the RGB signals to the AV out without any extra components.

    Thanks for the help I will try that with the SNES Saturn and PSX, the N64 RGB mod is iffy, I have heard good things, and bad, so i will probably end up going with a good quality S-Video cable for the N64.

    In that case you want NTSC version SCART cables for SNES and Saturn.

    Those two had a changed PAL hardware pinout.
