Talking Make Trax / Crush Roller

Is this a great little game or what? I originally played Make Trax at a bowling alley's arcade in a small rural town about six years ago. The display of the game was garbled, so it was difficult to tell what exactly was going on. But I could tell I was changing the color of the streets and figured my goal had to be to change all of them to the new color. This one is fun, exciting, a maze game with many original elements. Make Trax is a great game. And if you have a Neo Geo Pocket (Color), it is available for that handheld as a cartridge under the original Japanese name, Crush Roller.

It's a nice little game that I've played several times over the years and enjoyed. So there's at least one other fan of it around here.

I wish the NGPC was a straight port of the original. The fun is there but it's still not the original. Too bad that Williams was just the licensee for North American since it kept it from appearing on any collections since they didn't actually own it.

I'd swear that I've seen ports of it on pirate Famicom carts in the past.

I remember that several years back somebody at the Oklahoma Video Game Expo was going to have a raffle to win his personal Make Trax arcade cab, but nobody seemed to be interested in winning it so he didn't bother bringing it. And I had actually rented a van to go there that year, hoping I'd be the only one to enter and end up winning it by default. Oh well.

According to Wikipedia, you're right. An non sanctioned unlicensed port was released titled as Brush Roller.

I wonder if it's worth seeking out?

Edit: Certainly isn't arcade perfect, but it seems to have been a nice effort. Could pass for a commercial release with ease. I'll be tracking this one down I think.
