I finally got to play this after finding it at the right price. SFC cart was the way to go; much cheaper. I'm glad I bought it and have it in the collection. It's really a pretty good game judged on it's own merits and not comparing it to Castlevania IV or PCE-CD Rondo.

Fantastic game here. Beautiful 8-bit styled graphics, simple and polished gameplay, and killer music. Just wish it had a physical release so I could have it in my collection.

I tend to not include MMOs and similar games in my yearly statistics, but I wanted to talk a bit about Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn, having just finished the main storyline. It's a pretty game and very fun, but it gets stuck up it's own ass on attempting to be new and different. A lot of the core mechanics are based around the player understanding the order to use skills in more than theorycrafting. That's...not strictly a problem, depending on which MMO pool you happen to swim in, but I found it both a nice break for the usual (being a WoW player primarily) and fairly grating at other times (being that there are no cleaver ways to get around problems if you're using your skills correctly). There was one instance (the first Garuda fight, for people in the know) that had me pretty impressed with it's difficulty...until I realized it was a pretty well disguised DPS race with a minimum gear requirement (and not all party members need to meet this requirement to breeze past). More than once I wished the crafting system worked like WoW. In WoW it's a simple matter of finding the item you need, clicking the button and poof, you have the item and probably a skill point (level). FF14....oh, man. Leveling bars, high quality item vs. normal quality item system, highly inflated mat costs. The whole thing is such a turn off, which is sad because the visuals and rewards are vast.

As for the story itself, the relevant parts are interesting. I say relevant because this story stalls whenever it can. It's like the quest designers didn't understand how leveling progression worked, so they just padded everything with useless fluff. There was a point where the story said "Ok, this super god is running around. Let's go talk to the last guys who kicked it's ass and get some advice." Only for those heroes to send me on a 25 quest long fetch-quest to....make an omelette. Because it was supposed to prove my tenacity or something and show that I was ready to find a super god. The best part was the NPC with me getting pissed at the start of this fetch-quest chain and pointing out that there was a super god running around, what the hell are we doing.

Would I recommend it? Yeah, I think so. If you want a hardcore MMO experience with a crapton of things to do, go play WoW. If you want something much less that is nonetheless pretty and fairly fun, you could do worse than FF14.

It's been way too long since I've completed anything. Wizardry for NES is just taking too long. Everyone needs significantly more HP.

As someone else mentioned, it tries too hard to be a movie, really makes some parts harder than they'd normally be if the camera didn't have to try and pull of money shots every few minutes. My main complaint from the first two games still stands, the controls would be that much more fluid if it had a formal jump button. That out of the way, it's not a horrible game by any stretch. If you enjoyed the first two, no reason to not dive into this one.

Damn, my thumbs, fingers, and arm are sore! Took quite a few hours to battle through this one. Really a fine NES-era wrestling game. The main drawback is constantly having to spam an attack button when close to your opponent; you enter into grapples by landing a strike first. The AI is relentless and super-aggressive, which means you will be tapping A and/or B constantly. What's neat are that the different wrestlers have varied movesets, and their own finishers(though the finishers may not exactly be what the real wrestler used). It's really got it all: different modes, unique moves, finishers, outside the ring action, top rope moves, etc. Really fun game. Ricky Steamboat is the one I took to the championship.

This was my first time ever completing it 100% with all bonus stages done. When I was a kid I used to just cheat and use the all Kremcoins/Infinite Lives cheat.

Pretty good. Looks nice, plays smoothly, fair bit of challenge in the latter stages. The keychains don't strike me as necessary, but are adorable and welcome none the less. Do recommend.

After my brother and I started playing NES games last weekend, I've had that ol' NES itch that needed some scratching. I'd played and finished this game quite a few years ago, but wanted to revisit it. My only real complaint is that the game doesn't have co-op/multi-player. Other than that, it's a very fun game that looks and sounds great.

First time beating RCR. I was always a bit confused about how the food and stages worked, so finally decided to sit down and get a grasp on it. The item/food, stats, and stage/boss stuff is pretty confusing initially, but once you get a grasp of things it really starts to make sense and isn't that complicated. Super fun game. I love how responsive the controls are in the game.

The Little Mermaid is easy as hell and short, a decent game tho, all swimming levels obviously. If u can't beat this one, u have no business picking up an NES controller.

Rule of thumb, it's considered beaten if you've either seen the credits or other popular criteria if a given game doesn't have credits or a formal ending.
But to answer your question, yes, I'd count it.

Very good. Recreates the map from Link to the Past perfectly, while also changing it up. The odd reference is there for the old fan, but not so in your face that the uninitiated will be confused. Dungeons are put together using elements from the old dungeons with new elements. I found it pretty easy to forget that I had crazy 3D wall merging powers, so some of the dungeons were harder than they needed to be. I felt that the bosses were an odd mix of both easier and harder. Easier in that most of them could be pretty easily facerolled with no issues, harder in the sense that dodging is much more of a pain in the ass (probably due to the smaller screen?). Do recommend.

This adventure game is finally on my recently completed list. It had been a few years since I played it. 100% completion

I'm a collector, but only to a certain extent.
Not as extreme as Rickstilwell though.[/quote]

    36. Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord - NES

Sigh of relief! I have finally finished the first RPG I ever owned. A brutal one at that. It takes soooo long to level up in this game!
You might notice I skipped a number. I forgot to post Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World a few entries back...
