Default Importing a Neo Geo AES

    Hi everyone,

I recently came across a couple Neo Geo AES carts and decided it's time to get the console so I can play them. Here's the thing though, ebay is pretty much my only bet. I want a real Neo Geo, so I'm not considering an Omega or other various 3rd party options at the moment. Looking at auctions, it seems U.S. Neo Geo's are few and far between, plus their prices are pretty high. Japanese consoles, however, seem to be quite plentiful in comparison, and would be the cheaper option overall even after factoring in shipping costs.

My concern is the power supply. I know Japan uses NTSC format as well, but their voltage output is lower correct? If I get a Japanese AES, am I going to have to get some kind of voltage converter? Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My J Neogeo AES works like a champ to this day. No issues thus far.

You should be fine, and if you get a AES get a unibios as well.

Thanks for the assurance guys, I had a feeling it wouldn't be an issue. I do have a JPS2 and J360 that work fine, but the newer consoles seem to come with universal NTSC power supplys that work in multiple regions, probably to reduce production costs. Now I guess I should read up on a unibios. I've heard the term before but never bothered to read up on it.

It's a modded BIOS to allow choosing region as well as AES or MVS mode.
