Isn't supply for all of the new consoles relatively large. Not like back when the Nintendo Wii or the Playstation 2 were released and they were still hard to come by a year or so later

Xbox One's don't seem to be disappearing, though, only the PS4's. I know it's selling much better but why is the PS4 just nowhere? We called every EVERY department store in CT. We had Best Buy look up which locations would have them thru their database, no one has a single PS4. At a local Gamestop, they actually answer the phone with, "Gamestop, we have Xbox One", prolly cuz they just aren't selling. I remember older consoles being sold out like the Ps2, but how could no one in the whole state not have one, except for resellers?
Amazon had a bunch of PS4 consoles in stock Monday and into Tuesday of this week. It's hard to find them in stores simply because they sell very quickly. I would expect that supply will improve and demand will slow in the next few months as the Japanese launch has now happened and supply should be normalizing in all regions.
I can't speak for the country but in my town anytime I hit retail I see little to no PS4s but I see a crap load of stacked Ones all over. Just today the PS4 was picked over at Costco and the PS3s were getting eyed by someone (the super slim Uncharted box) and side by side was the One, full pallet of probably a 100 of them untouched.
Tell him to order one from Amazon. They've had them in stock for weeks now.
Actually now that I think of it, it might be better to order one online from another state besides your own because then sales tax is replaced by shipping cost which is sometimes not as much as the tax would be.
For some odd reason, GameStop seems to have a more preferential treatment in getting large quantities of the console than in any other store. Sears only gets like 2-3 every month, while GameStop seems to be getting them constantly, as they are always available (at least from what I can tell). At work we get calls nearly daily for the console, but the darn thing arrives sporadically. Yet we have plenty of Xbox 360, but rarely does anyone request one. I think we have sold like 5 since it was launched, and around 100 or so PS4's.
