Default Favorite digital downloads you wish weren't

I'm sure if you have seen my posts enough here before you know I don't buy digital downloads really much at all and if they are they're cheap and few and farther between. The fact is at the end of the day they're long term rentals, you have NO rights and once they decide to drop support you're stuck and out your money if your system eats it. That said, are there any games in the digital only format in you region or worldwide you'd love to own if they'd just man up and stick on a card (3DS/Vita) or a disc (WiiU/PS3-4/360-1)?

I know looking at stuff there have been some neat releases with some quality to them like the Trine titles and that Unepic game on WiiU I'd love to own. Looking at the 3DS there have been those Kagura Burst combat(final fight style) and Umi's Odd Odyssey (Umihara Kawase) that I'd love to have on a card as well. Those two 3DS games all the more infuriating as they are on cards in the PAL and Japanese regions...ugh.

How about you all, any particular games you wish were on a tangible format that you would buy if it would come out that way? I wish I could import the 3DS games but of course thanks to online Nintendo used that as a sorry excuse to region lock the handhelds which they never did up until the DSi which sucks!

Man, you start a lot of threads.

Phoenix Wright 3DS would be the big one, with Yumi's Odd Odyssey a close second. Of course, I haven't bought either of them yet, as I have more than enough to play at the moment and I'm hoping there will be a sale eventually. (Or may I can just get a cheap eShop points card somewhere or another.)

Not sure why you would overpay for Unepic or Trine on a console when they've practically given away the PC versions, which probably look nicer anyway.

I think I paid $2.50 for UnEpic on Steam's Summer Sale.

That said I don't buy downloads for consoles or handhelds, and I only buy Steam titles if they're cheap enough.

The biggest one for me that I would've liked on disc would be Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. Beyond that, I guess would've liked the arcade titles (X-Men, The Simpsons, etc.) maybe thrown onto a compilation disc too...

    Agreed.

Anyway, I wish ALL digital downloads were made available in physical format.

If not, at least be able to backup the data/games for later use. I love the Vita because I can make a complete backup on a PC and, a few years later, upload the backup back on the Vita and play the games, even if said games are no longer available on the PSN store. I wish the same can be done on both the PS3 and PS4. Microsoft and Nintendo consoles as well.

I did it on purpose. I don't like to make a lot of new ones, rather reply, but there's not that many things getting responded to and I was hoping to stir up some conversation or a few new registrations or some others dusting off old accounts fed up maybe with another stick in the butt type sites.

Unepic and Trine if I could get them on a physical copy without any DRM or Steam front end garbage attached I would, like if GoGames had a nice sale, but I would pay more to get a real traditional full legit copy like when I bought a lightly used slip cover and all complete Cave Story 3DS game for $25 versus the cheap digital alternatives. I like to own what a pay for, not just live for a ticking clock and the only digital exception would be on PC because I can jam it onto a backup drive.

Sony even seems to get this concept as they've put out a few packages of their PSN and even PS2(download on PS3) games up on discs for a lower price from stuff like the Journey Collection, Fat Princess package on PSP, and even those God of War and Ico/Colossus packages on PS3.

Breath of Death 7 and Cthulu Saves the World. Very cheap when they were released and just a few weeks ago you could have found them both bundled for $.97. Worth it imo. Some of the best RPGs I've played in awhile. I haven't played Penny Arcade On the Rain Slicked Precipice of Darkness 3 and 4(the first two suck, but 3 and 4 were developed by the devs of these two games)

I wouldn't mind the devs ported these games over to the 3DS or Vita. Both games on a single card.

    Dead Nation on the PS3/PS4/Vita.

Hotline Miami 1 and 2. Hotline Miami wasn't amazing, but for an indie game it was pretty good. Imo, most indie games haven't been very good.
Everything in the above post is opinion unless stated otherwise.

At least you used some paragraphs this time.

Here's a list of my favorites off the top of my head and sorted by system.

    Xbox
-Project Gotham Racing 2's Paris & Long Beach booster packs (DLC expansions)

    PSP
-Vanguard, Burnin' Rubber, & Lock N' Chase (PSP Minis)

    Vita
-TxK (I don't yet own a Vita, but I've played and enjoyed this Tempest inspired release from Jeff Minter)

    PS3
    -House of the Dead 4

    360
-Juno First (Game Room arcade download)
-Perfect Dark (XBLA; Been hoping for a Rare XBLA compilation disc, but no such luck.)
    -Outrun Online Arcade (XBLA)
    -Sega Rally Online Arcade (XBLA)
    -Daytona USA (XBLA)
    -Hydro Thunder Hurricane (XBLA)

    Wii
    -Super Hang-On (Virtual Console Arcade)
-Wave Race 64 & Super Mario 64 (Virtual Console; I love how nice they look on the Wii compared to the original hardware.)

    Wii U
    -NES Remix 1 & 2

    DS
-Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition

    3DS
    -Galaxy Force II (3D Classic)

Those actually were retail releases first on the PS3 and came to PSN as downloads later on (With Ico and Shadow of the Colossus split back apart, I believe).

This is a totally off-topic question, but what retro forums have the most active positing going on ?

    That was quick, thanks Nintendo.

Really glad that I didn't pick NES Remix as my Club Nintendo reward last night. Almost was tempted to not wait it out.

WCP other than the two shitholes of NA and neogaf both loaded with immature people, cliques, and snobs drowning out some good people, I really don't know, gamefaqs? This place used to be a lot more jumping when I'd read but never registered so that's what came to mind when I wrote that side comment.

Leo! Sweet! You're right that was damn quick on an announcement. I was stubbornly refusing to buy it on the WiiU after seeing Japan get that package. I was either never going to play remix 2 outside of a gift card situation, or they'd release it here and well they are so that's good. Also a good list of games there I agree with a lot, well most of it anyways since I've used much of those listed and they're good stuff.

Mega Man 9 + 10 (Wiiware) I'd have loved a disc that contained one or both of these plus the DLC.
Castlevania: Adventure Rebirth (Wiiware) Early 3DS title, late PSP release? Maybe on a physical compilation cart/disc with some other random Castlevanias (like Circle of the Moon)?
Daytona USA (the version that released on PS3/360) Surely, this could have supported decent budget-price sales for a physical copy..

I forgot about Mega Man 9 & 10. Their absence on disc is a major oversight. Bionic Commando Rearmed is another one.

Capcom put out a compilation disc of their underperformers like Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 several years ago, but the good stuff like Okami HD (Which Japan did get on disc at least) sadly remains absent.

Shadow Complex is 360 exclusive and Scott Pilgrim vs the World is on PS360.

Does it say that on the box somewhere as I'd be furious and demand a return on it if I bought that cold at the store to find a piece of paper for MM10.
