Default Converting SNES controller to USB

I know retrousb sells a kit for $18 + s/h, but what about something like THIS? Can this be opened and rob the innards to do the same thing?

So you want to install it inside the controller? I would say it would be a super easy conversion depending on the size of the PCB. I personally would just leave it like it is in case the controller breaks for some reason it is an easy swap to fix.

If I wanted to just use an SNES controller on my PC, by all means that's what I would do. However, I was thinking of trying to build something like THIS but with a Raspberry Pi instead.

The retrousb kit is $21.50 shipped. I suppose the adapter is cheap enough to take a chance on at 1/3 the price.

Ah, gotcha that makes more sense. I just bought a shield handheld that had a broken screen and removed the screen. Now I have a very small battery powered emulation machine for $80. Plus it has USB host over OTG to hook up controllers.

I went entirely with external adapters for all my X > USB needs.

    1) It's an extension cord.
    2) You can swap out the controller.
    3) Easy to move between systems.

Putting it into the controller is neat but not worth it IMHO.
