Yeah man, it really was worth the wait(and the money). The difficulty progression reminded me a lot of Blazing Lazers, except that, unlike Blazing, didn't require near-perfect execution on the final stage. With Gate of Thunder it was more difficult at the beginning, but then smoothly progressed as you could feel yourself getting better at the game. It's about as perfectly balanced a challenge as I've encountered in shooter/shmup.

AKA the Japanese version of Bonk's Adventure for Game Boy. I was in the mood to play something on my GBA SP (maybe because I was sick recently and didn't pull it out, even though I usually do when I catch a cold), and this was one of the very few original GB or GBC games I own that I still hadn't beaten (because it's one of my more recent acquisitions). It was a real quick play. I'd given the game a brief try in the past, going through a couple stages, but this was the first time I sat down with the intention to play it seriously and I beat it in the same sitting. Got all the way up to the final boss without ever getting a Game Over, although I did continue a couple times on him. I dunno if the game gives unlimited continues or if I just didn't need however many it offers. Even though it was pretty easy and quite similar to the TG-16 game of the same name, it was still good fun.

For whatever strange reason, I got a craving to play some Game Gear, even though I've barely touched the thing in a decade. Basically the only time I ever put any significant time into it was when I first bought it and played through Shining Force, and I've barely acquired any additional games for it past that original batch that came with the system in the eBay lot that I picked up. Seems like my speaker broke yet again (a wire snapped when I opened it for cleaning when I first got it, but that was fixed with a quick solder job), but I still get sound just fine through the headphone jack. It's not in the greatest shape in general, as the screen is covered in scratches and the buttons are kinda chewed up, but it's nothing terribly noticeable while playing. I figured Aladdin wouldn't be too long or difficult, and just as I expected, I both started it tonight and had it beat tonight. Nothing that great, but still surprisingly decent. Certainly better than the Game Boy Aladdin. I was also surprised to see that it was developed in Japan. I had always assumed that the only Japanese Disney's Aladdin game was Capcom's SNES release.

    1. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - PC (Went Completely Light Side. Contemplating a replay as a Sith...)
    2. Super Mario Bros. - SNES (I snagged Super Mario All-Stars earlier this year, and for the love of God, I have redefined my own personal feelings of hatred for Hammer Bros.)
    3. Dishonored - PC (I cannot believe I hadn't played it sooner. The Bethesda E3 trailer for Dishonored 2 prompted me to immediately buy the prequel and play the hell out of it!)
    4. Portal - PC (I never actually beat Portal on PC. I left it after a while because I got distracted.)
    5. Portal 2 - PC (Same reason as above.)

As for what I am nearly finished beating, I have Batman Arkham Asylum neatly packaged and ready to finish up, along with Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels and the rest of the Arkham series (well, that which is still available on PC ).

Otherwise... I really should get around to finishing Morrowind... Playing for years, and I still suck at it...

Not bad. Don't think the voice clips were used to much effect here and I'm still not a fan of the hard to navigate free roam map.

Some more Game Gear and some more Disney platforming, and another Master System to Game Gear port. Not bad, better than Aladdin. Tougher too, though overall not especially difficult. It helps if you get the disc or frisbee or whatever as soon as possible and keep it the whole game. It's almost always better than the hammer.

Just finished Dragon Age 2. Such a disappointing ending. Is the DLC even worth getting for this game?

I beat two tough games this past weekend: Jurassic Park and Claymates. Was going to quit both of them halfway through but something compelled me forward and I ended up beating both.

JP is more of an endurance test because it's not THAT hard, but Claymates' African world is tough and so is the last stage with the space alien boss.

Whelp, there we have it, the worst TT LEGO game I've ever played. It wouldn't have been so bad if they hadn't tried to be the movie so hard. Instead of moving in that fluid way you see in most LEGO games, the characters all move like they did in the movie. It's slow, cumbersome and visually annoying. And speaking of annoying, the game plays clips from the movie before and after each level, meaning the PS4 pops up a message saying your streaming ability (regardless of if you had it on or not) has been suspended because they don't want you streaming parts of the movie. The levels are boring, the puzzles show none of the creativity I've come to expect, the OST consists of "Everything is Awesome" and then some stock flash-game tunes. TT has done vastly better, there is no excuse for this.

Been a while since I updated.
Vertical Force: fun enough and I have to admit that the depth gimmick was pretty cool.
Smash Bros For WiiU: I guess I have completed this now. Nothing left to unlock. Great game of course.
Splatoon: Super fun and fresh take on shooters. First time I felt compelled to go online with a shooter(or even play once) since Halo 3.
Raiden Trad: I had fun with this one. Nothing great, but good, simple shmup fun. Bonus points for having co-op!
Nemesis: Surprisingly good conversion of the franchise to the GB. A little challenging, but not too much.
Kirby's Adventure: Played this off n on for a while. Definitely one of the better looking and most impressive NES games.
Bust-A-Move Universe: Typical B-A-M goodness. Got it for like 5 bucks at Lamestop. Well worth the price and then some.
Little League Baseball: Amazingly similar to Baseball Stars(both are SNK games, so not that amazing I guess). Still the gameplay differentiates itself enough. I really like how it's a lower-scoring baseball game and not a slugfest every time out. The AI is quite competent and not easily fooled. Really an excellent 8bit baseball game.
I'm just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe.

Vertical Force has that Star Soldier feel with those interesting barrier sections to go over or under. It's one of my favorite VB games. Little League Baseball feels more like Neo Geo Baseball Stars in how it's lower scoring with more ground balls like you mentioned. I like it. Kirby's Adventure is one I played through recently again, and while I like it, I find that I have to play through it quickly or I get bored.

over the last 2 weeks I have beaten:
-Final Fantasy II (IV) hard-type. Excellent hack, its better than the original game since the original is so easy. With the hard-type hack there are a few battles that are more difficult but its not overly difficult.
-Super Valis IV. I beat the Famicom version on hard mode. The Japanese version has 3 settings: easy, normal and hard; while the US version has only normal and hard.. however hard mode on the Japanese version is actually easier than the Normal mode on the US version. So its actually like the US version has very hard & very very hard modes.

Nice, I'm playing it right now and really enjoying it. Only wish the steal rate of success was even higher. Anything in particular I should look out for?

The Paladin enemies are tough, but you can cast toad on them and then step on them. Otherwise they are hard. Ocasionally you can run into those Alert-type monsters that call Paladins and you can kill them over and over and gain tons of levels.
The only fights that are really dificult are when you fight the 4 fiends inside the giant and the CPU (the giant ball) inside the giant. The CPU is by far the hardest fight in the game. Rosa learns a spell called 'rage' which berserks everyone in the party, I had to cast this to beat the CPU.

Prolly the most notable game on the 32x, it plays quite well for such a unique gameplay element, 2 characters attached by a rubber band thing. The levels look awesome but they're kinda confusing to navigate, but not that difficult, really. It's a great game though. Not the best in the classic Sonic series, but worth playing. A proper Sonic game, I think, woulda been better.

Not the only game I've beaten this year, but I did finally beat Windjammers on one credit on my MVS cabinet. That was pretty tough. Sometimes, when I'm way overly tired but can't sleep, I really ramp up in skill, which is what happened here. I don't know if it's just because some of the busier parts of the brain shut down and allow my hands to go on autopilot or what, but there's a sweet spot for me where around midnight if I haven't slept for a day or two everything just clicks, and I'm just better. Anyway, Windjammers rules.
