    Default Amstrad console??

Anyone know anything about an Amstrad console? I saw one in a local shop for £20, with two controllers and one game (couldn't see what it was, it was a loose cart). It looked a bit bizarre, and I've never seen one before. If I wasn't absolutely broke, and unemployed, then I probably would have piced it up straight away. It's white / gray and the shape of the machine is like you would get it you sliced an edge off a cylinder. Anyone have any idea what it might be?

Took me a while to find an Amstrad GX4000. But then I don't live in the UK. I eventually ended up getting one from www.retroaction.co.uk

The console was cheap and it had the box and one game, though no styrofoam inserts. Shipping was a bear too. But I really wanted one and it seems to be very rare in this country.

Yeah, it's got a pretty small library too, but some games are hard to find (I only have maybe 7 or so, but then again, I've been a cheapskate and could have added another few to that total if I'd really wanted to). I hear it's pretty much shite though... :-)

Thanks for the info guys! Sadly I am too broke to be able to afford this. But if anyone else wants it, I can go in and see if it still there next week (going away for w/e). It was £20, which is $30. Plus postage to wherever you are.

You should be able to pick one up for less than £20. I think I paid £5 for mine.. boxed with pads and the ubiquitous Burnin' Rubber game. When they go on Ebay they rarely fetch much at all.

Mine just sits under the bed - I was curious to see what the console was like but I don't rate it very highly at all. Plus, the console seems to get rather hot rather quickly, although that could've just been my machine.

You'll find that the games besides Burnin' Rubber will probably be costlier than the machine itself, especially if you're after complete versions.

There's a place I know here in the UK with about 10 of the games loose for £8 each, though whether that's a good thing or not is debatable
