Default Super Mario Maker - DP Level Uploads

This thread has been a hit over on NA, anyone here playing?

    Super Testing Brothers: D755-0000-0031-E96D

My first, trying different concepts and seeing what can be done.

    Eno Hsad Eno (Familiarity): 7616-0000-0032-DA9D

A unique look at 1-1, with some other experimentation.

    Bowser's Castle Redux: DD0B-0000-0034-1A67

SMW Castle, multiple routes for start. Ambition halted due to level limits.

    Imagine Gemini: 6212-0000-003E-F6EF

    Megaman themed level. Guess which.

    Some relevant info from gf:

    ~~How can I unlock and use costumes?~~

One of two ways. Either touch the corresponding amiibo to your gamepad or beat the 100 Mario Challenge for a random costume prize.

To use them drag out the Mystery Mushroom in SMB and then tap it with the stylus (otherwise it selects a random costume).

    ~~What are the object limits?~~

The limits are quite generous so unless you are intentionally over-spamming something (see "being uncreative") you will most likely not encounter these normally.

    (From MarioWiki)
    Block objects: 2,000
    Includes: Coins, Ground.
    Platform objects: 200
    Includes: Beanstalks, Warp Pipes.
    Warp Pipe warp objects: 10
    Power-up objects: 100
Does not include power-ups that are inside blocks.
    Enemy objects: 100
Includes: Goombas, Koopa Troopas, POW Blocks, P Switches, Goomba's Shoes (Yoshi Eggs), One-way barriers, Skull Rafts, Junior Clown Cars, and Moving platforms.
    Arrow objects: 100
Door objects: 4 sets (8 total)
    Bowsers: 3

~~What's this swatting mini game I hear about?~~

At some point a fly may buzz around your screen. Poke it with the stylus to start the game. It's a throw back to a mini game in Mario Paint for the SNES.

    ~~Can magikoopa destroy the goal?~~

If magikoopa blasts the goal base (base of the axe or flag pole) it will disappear. But if you defeat that magikoopa it will come back fully functional.

This game is a sweet value, the LittleBigPlanet of my dreams. You can't do EVERYTHING Nintendo has ever done in a Mario game, but you can do things I don't think they have ever tried. I'd love them to expand with free updates or even paid dlc (Mario 2 engine). I'm enjoying it much more than I thought.

Great idea for a thread! Thanks for posting it.

I sure wish Capcom wouldn't have cancelled Mega Man Universe. We could have seen this level of creativity with users making thousands of levels for a customizable platforming game 4 years ago instead of finally getting something like it today. I think the large number of Mega Man levels recreated in Mario Maker is proof positive that level making for Mega Man Universe would have been popular, and with MMU being on XBLA and PSN, we probably would have seen quite a few uploads indeed!

My son made the level below....
It took me awhile to better it.
He comes by and beats it carrying the spring thru the entire level.
The spring is hidden in a block to the left at the very start. I dare you to try it!

    Mario Vs. Magikoopa
    31E8-0000-0053-E7B6

and this one is one of his first levels:
    Long Lost Luigi

remember you have to beat a level before its uploaded so this is beatable, only a handful of people have tried and none have. I bet some people here could do it.

    some hints.

    there are no hidden blocks
keep your momentum in the second half
don't try to jump off of 2 springboards at once

Hey guys. I finished the Mario Maker stage I was working on for the last week, making sure I could prefect it so the challenge is fair and there's a good variety in it.

Let me know what you think!

D3BB-0000-0049-1977 - Dinosaurs Attack! :Neat slight of hand I discovered by accident, I explain how its done in the comments if anyone's interested in using it.

1E2E-0000-0067-6EDB - The Great Sushi Escape! : You play as a squid escaping a kitchen.

    Comments/Suggestions welcome!

Very nice level. I liked how nice and open it is for the platforming involved. And some very good platforming/no blind jumps. Here are some of my thoughts:

    1. A little long maybe cut out ~25%. Makes it a little overly difficult by being so long and having to start it over every time.

    2. First Chain chomp is a little difficult - His randomness makes you sit there for awhile waiting to see where he goes, bogs down the beginning/kills you

    3. Ending is confusing - Lots of stuff going on. Im still not sure what comes out of what pipe and what went where even after beating it. Died just trying to figure out what to do. Does picking up the spring cause the P to appear? I skipped it for awhile because in mario 1 you cant pick up springs and didn't realize I should this.

    4. You can clean up the look of your ships by moving the port holes (windows) around. Just hold ZL and copy an existing random window to where you want the new one to be. Works with all bsckground items.

    Hopefully this Helps!

I'm having a ton of fun with this game as well. Here's the first level that I've made called "Oh those Bullet Bills..":

The Dinosaur stage is pretty cool, reminds me of Bonk's Adventure.
The squid stage cant be found.

Fun level, fairly easy. The hidden leaf is super obvious tho. A Tanooki in a shoe is super-powerful.

From your comments I was expecting something hard. Beat it on 2nd try. Pretty good, needs more goomba tho.

Old School level - good concept but I would have made it a little longer. Because why not?
Boat level - pretty easy. I like how mario breaks into the ship.

1981 - pretty nice, you should make a harder version of it as well.
1982 - another nice level, I like the part with the vines and the blue shelled spike-guys. Very nice level design, especially at the end.

Super Testing Bros. - A good level but kinda long. Annoying to die at the long jump at the end after going through the previous stuff.

Eno Hsan Eno - I see what you did there..

Bowser Castle - fairly easy compared to your other courses. The trampoline at the end made bowser easy to get by.

Imagine Gemini - Nice, just like Gemini man stage. The Mega Man portrait at the end was a nice touch as well.

    - -
Well, beat all the levels here. I left comments on all the stages after I beat them, except for two of them because I forgot.
My favorite out of the bunch was the bullit bill level by Ballon Fight. Its hard, but very doable. Had the most fun with that one.

Event Courses just got added to Mario Maker, you can unlock an Arino KACHO mystery mushroom costume by beating the course he made.

I just got this a week or so ago, so I'm still in the learning curve and haven't unlocked all the tools yet. I appreciate all the above levels and look forward to seeing more!

Been doing the 100 Mario Challenge to see a random mix of stuff and I'm already sick of the auto-scrolling BS and the deluge of "don't touch anything!" levels. Don't get me wrong, I see that a ton of thought and effort has went into these overblown Rube Goldberg devices, but enough already! If some people put half the effort into a real stage as they did those we could see some amazing things.

Those 'dont touch anything levels' do suck. I hate them also.
I also hate all the stupid sound effects and the animations like the cat paw smacks and such. Otherwise its a great game though.

My son and I decided to each make an Auto-level and see who made the best design.
Mine was sad, his turned out fantastic.

I got this game for Christmas and am having fun so far. I created a few levels and would appreciate any feedback you might give.
