    1. Puzzle & Action: Ichidant-R (Arcade via MAME) 1/1
    2. Detana!! TwinBee (PC Engine) 3/7

I haven't had the time to finish off a handful of games I started in 2015, let alone seriously start something new (though there is one game I started in 2016 that I'm close to beating if I can just get back to it), but I gave my PC Engine Duo-RX some love after barely touching it the last few years. Played all the way through my old favorite Detana!! TwinBee, though on Easy and most of the way with two players (cleared the last stage by myself).

    JAN
    01) Star Wars Battlefront (PS4)

    FEB
    02) Breakthru (NES)
    03) Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain (PS4)
    04) Godzilla (PS4)
    05) Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes (PS4)

    MAR
    06) Jamestown + (PS4/PSN)
    07) Grandia (PS1/PSN)

Little late to the party, but here's this year so far for me.

Battlefront I did all of the single player stuff in January, then this past month I finished everything on the hardest difficulty and got all the trophies.

My brother and I both finished Breakthru. We accidentally sort of put it in and got addicted quickly. Really fun little game.

Spent $15 on Godzilla and it was well worth it. I'm just glad I didn't pay full price! Still, a fun game to waste some time on if you're into Godzilla.

Metal Gear Solid 5: I played these out of order, but oh well. Really dig Phantom Pain. Sucks not having David Hayter as Snake's voice, but every time Snake spoke I was hearing Hayter's voice anyways. I also got really sucked into the base building aspect of the game. I kinda dreaded finishing it, I was so into the game.

Jamestown is a really fun shmup. Veeeeerrryyyy interesting setting for the game too.

Grandia: I've been curious about this game for years and downloaded it off PSN a few months ago. At first I was put off by having to maunally rotate the camera around to find doors and paths, and the game looked super pixelated at first(looked much better when I hooked up my PS TV to my newer television), but something drew me back after I played 1 hour and put the game down for over 1 month. First, I love the battle system: just awesome stuff. Secondly, the game has a gorgeous art style and the music is incredible. I really love how the game starts out as just a couple of kids seeking adventure and slowly builds from there. I really enjoyed my time with this one.

It was a very long journey to finish once again this game: Xenogears ...

I finished Xenogears in the fall of 1998 and started the game a few more times but didn't had the chance to actually finish the game. A few months ago I tried to complete the game once again and finally yesterday had the time to finish it.

Easily the best RPG for the PS1 and Top 3 of all consoles/computers (for me). It was a really good experience and found so much more than the first time and understood the plot better this time.

I want to thank you all and my family for making this a reality, you make the world a much better place ()

Wonderful short story. Voice recording wasn't amazing, but still good. Worth a playthrough.

    1. Puzzle & Action: Ichidant-R (Arcade via MAME) 1/1
    2. Detana!! TwinBee (PC Engine) 3/7
    3. End of Serenity (PSP) 3/27

Instead of being smart and working on beating all the games I have half-finished right now, I started up and beat something I just bought, haha. There was a recent PSN Flash Sale that had discounts on some interesting stuff. I normally don't pay much attention to PSN sales because I want everything in physical form if possible, but I spotted two retro throwback RPGs created in a 16-bit/RPG Maker kind of style by Kemco that I vaguely remember being localized by Natsume and coming out digital-only in the dying days of the PSP (originally they were mobile games, though). For less than $5 each, I figured they were worth a whirl. The other I hear can be fairly long, so I'm putting it off for later, but I heard End of Serenity was super short, which cemented my decision to start it up. And true to what I heard, I did beat it in like 10-11 hours. It's nothing special, but it's fun for what it is, a breezy, fast-paced little traditional RPG that feels like it could've been a B-tier SNES RPG. Had it come out back in the day, I think it'd have a favorable legacy, though nothing like the greats of that era. It'd probably harder if it had come out back then, though. As it is, it barely puts up any kind of challenge.

Probably my biggest complaint is that it uses some of the old groan-worthy story tropes. I mean, I guess that's the point, in trying to be nostalgic and all, and the story and characters development is so paper-thin that it's practically nonexistent anyway, but I have to roll my eyes when there's a female villain second in command to the big baddie, and she's only "evil" because she *~loves~* him, and of course she looks like some sort of dominatrix because "sexually confident woman" = "bad girl". I just could do without some of the lamer aspects of old Japanese RPGs.

    8. Minecraft: Story Mode: Episode 5: Order Up!

Fresh start from the previous four episodes that is apparently going to lead into a further three episode DLC story. Pretty good so far.

    9. The Charnel House Trilogy

As far as adventure games go, this trilogy is pretty simple to follow, very few actual puzzles. On the other hand, the writing is damn good and the sound direction is perfect. Also features the voice work of Abe Goldfarb, which always pushes a games rating up a point with me. Highly worth a look.

Managed to 1CC World Heroes Perfect on MVS last week with Fuuma on normal difficulty. Strange because it was only my second time ever playing the game. I have a CD-R of Saturn WHP and also World Heroes Anthology/Gorgeous on PS2 but never once actually sat down and played it. I've been on a World Heroes kick lately and always wanted to check out Perfect but it was the one game I didn't own on MVS.

Neo-Dio didn't have the usual SNK boss AI, beat him using cheap follow ups after blocking some of his specials. Fantastic game that really needs to be played on a 6-button setup.

Initially I was all over this for interesting use of the RPGMaker software, but as the game went on it just became more and more fiddly. The story payoff wasn't worth the time put into it, sadly.

I had only played a little of the original when it was new, it was nice to finally see the whole game through. I found it difficult mostly because I'm used to modern adventure games, which tend to not over flood you with items and use cartoon logic for puzzle solutions. Still not a fan of the OST, though.

    12. LYNE

It's somewhat challenging, if not a bit overdone at points. Worth a dollar or two.

Really good. Simply beautiful game, OST is amazing. I did find the game a little easy, but it's basically a movie tie-in, so.

Me too. It has that special kind of creepy feel that black background NES games have, but enhanced by the concept of exorcising Kyonshees. Once you get a feel for the fighting, it's awesome.
