2 on the GBA, but both were a little tough to work with. They decided the 3rd level of attack was A & B simultaneously. Most platforms the series is on usually have at least 4 face buttons, using 3 for the levels of attack and the other for running. I've recently played the Saturn game, which feels great with the 6 face button layout(the Genesis game, which is still good for the older portion of the series, where grapples are won by waiting for a 2nd animation, the arms drop, was before there was a 6 button gamepad).
Looking at what one of those things look, I wonder how the Wonderswan(I think it was pre-color too) handled the game it got.
