    Default Lady Bug arcade MYSTERY!!!

OK, so I was playing Lady Bug last night in MAME, and decided to hit F4 to take a peek at the game's graphics. And to my surprise, on the sprites rom, there's the graphics for a DINOSAUR!! Enough to make the dino walk across the screen and turn his head, and there's even a bone for some reason among those graphics.
These can't be left over from another Universal game (they often contained dinosaurs), because this dino's different from any I've seen in any of Universals other games.
Does anyone know of rumors that a dino appears in the game, or a secret to make it appear?
Can anyone take a peek at the arcade's code to see if there's any way to trigger this "easter egg" ?

I love finding out about stuff like this, can't wait to check it out. Thanks, Raccoon Lad! I stickified the thread for the day in hopes that we can get more help on the sleuthing end of this one. Nice find!

Couldn't this be the same as the grasshopper in Centipede?

It's possible but as RL mentioned, with all the frames available for the dinosaur to walk around and such, it might be a bit more than that.

Here's the dinosaur, I pieced him together from the 16x16 chunks that are in the rom. The colors are probably wrong, but it gives you an idea of what's hidden in the game, plus I included the bone because I could.

Has anyone gotten all the way to the last level of the game? I've seen it done on the CV but never the arcade version. Maybe there's a special harvest level that has the dino in it.

I never used F4 in MAME before. This is fun. I was just looking at the Tapper sprites and noticed there's a black version of all the characters including the bartender. I wonder if there's a way to unlock him or a hidden dipswitch setting?

F4 in MAME = god. Used it a number of times myself.

It really has an ending? It's not like the "ending" of Pac-Man or Crystal Castles, is it?

This is just a wild guess, mind you, but what if the bone on occasion shows up instead of a vegetable. (much like the rare diamond in Mr. Do!), and no-one's ever found it before, because it's so hard to get all the bugs out of the "corral" in the center of the screen in the later levels.
if so, getting the bone could trigger a special dino-screen possibly.

Where are all the bored programmers when we need their expertise?

I was playing it last night with the unlimited lives cheat. I got all the way to the last vegetable/level which would just repeat over and over. It didn't cycle through to the first vegetable again and there wasn't any congratulations screen. I got the SPECIAL screen once which is totally different than it is on the CV. It shows some bride and groom marrying in a church?!? What does that have to do with the game? I wonder if it's something different every time you get the special(dino). I wasn't able to get it more than once before I gave up.

My understanding is that the wedding scene is the standard Special reward in the arcade version.

Righty-O -- but I had the same thought as Zaxxon -- has anyone gotten the "special" bonus more than once in the arcade version?

@Zaxxon - the CV version was changed since the "free credit" special bonus wouldn't amount to much on the home console.

Yes. In Holland, I saw a Ladybug game with that and the Flowerpots (EXTRA) scenes. It was just cosmetics, nothing more.

The ColecoVision version of Ladybug in 1982 awed us. A home video game that looks THAT great?!

Oh, Spunky- not a good idea, getting blitzed. It's hunting season around here.
