Default Question about Neo Geo MVS Motherboards

Hello, I have been looking for a Neo Geo MVS cab. to buy for awhile now. I was a little confused about how the memory cards work. I know that a lot of the cabinets have a slot on the front to insert your memory card in. This is the type of system that I want. But I read on www.hardmvs.com that some one and two slot boards have the memory card port right on the motherboard while the four and six slots have the external reader on the front. My main question is, if I buy a 2 slot on eBay (there is one in my area ending in a few days) will I be able to use a memory card with it if it does not have that slot on the front.

There were some other shops on eBay that sell the memory card readers. AFAIK I don't *think* any of the 1 slot boards had the memory card slots directly on it, but they had the pins that you could hook up the memory card readers. MV-2F looks like the only one that might have what you're talking about. I'd email the seller and ask if that's the model he's auctioning off.

Are you using the board in a cab or with a gun? My 2 slot has the card slot on the side, I think it's the same side as the headphone jacks. I guess if I wanted to put it in a cab, that side would be out, but to be honest, I haven't found a single reason to used the damn thing in any of the 13 or so carts I own.

And Achika is correct, AFAIK. I've never seen a one slot with a card reader.

Most models of the 2-slot board have the memory card reader mounted on the PCB, while the rest have that plug-in memory card reader (so it can be mounted to have the memory card slot in the front of the cab.

I have a dedicated mini 2-slot MVS cab, that does not have the slot at the front of the cab, and the board has the built-in reader. So I just plugged in a memory card and it stays there, no need to remove it.

Yea, I don't have one yet, but I plan on buying one as soon as I find one in good condition in my price range and in my area so I don't have to waste money on shipping. I want one that I can just pick up. But yea, I was wondering about the whole memory card thing. I didn't know if I should wait to buy one with the memory card reader on the outside, or if there was in fact a reader on the 2 slot boards. Is there any easy way to tell that the board has the memory card reader on it. I have been watching eBay for one, but most people do not show pictures of the board, so without seeing that, can I tell.
