Default Favorite Bionic Commando game and why?

This been done yet? If so, just ignore and delete.

atomicthumbs got me thinking of Bionic Commando, and now I'm wondering - which BC game did you like the best?

I'd have to pick the NES game, seeing as how it was the game that exposed me to BC in the first place. Out of the entire series, it remains the best imo. I do have a soft spot for the arcade version, easy as it is, and the GB version is also pretty good. I wasn't overly impressed with what I played of BC: EF, though.

That reminds me - I have to get my hands on Hitler no Fukkatsu: Top Secret (the Famicom version of BC) one of these days...

Definately the Nes/Famicom Bionic Commando. It was leaps and bounds better than the arcade version before it. Making the home game more of a quest type of game was a good move on Capcom's part.

The original arcade game just felt a bit mediocre, and frustrating at times. The gameboy game was decent, though the tiny gameboy screen did make it feel cramped at times. Would've been nice of Capcom to make a Bionic Commando 2 for the Nes or Snes, but since they didn't the gameboy sequel will have to do.

I haven't really played much of Elite Forces, so I can't comment on that one.

Definately the NES version. I still have to get my grubby little paws on Top Secret though. I was addicted to this game from the time it was released. The first week I had it, the only thing that could get me to stop playing it late at night was American Gladiators (when it was good). Great story for an NES game!

It has to be the NES version. I play the game pretty much every day that I work. It's probably my favorite game of all time.

Well, the NES version is the most memorable, as it has the Best Ending Ever.

Then again, I almost enjoy the GameBoy version more. I'll vote for it, since I think the NES game will come out on top anyway.

Gotta go with the nes version: nothing beats the original. This also goes for the Castlevania series, Mario series, Ninja Gaiden series, contra series, etc, etc. IMHO the first one almost always takes the cake.

I heard from my contact that Hitler no Fukkatsu: Top Secret is one of the more expensive Fami games in Japan. Apparently it's still highly sought after.

I LOVED Bionic Commando for GBC when I got it. But it keeps crapping out, you have to trick the computer by dodging the trucks or it frickin' freezes!! Does ANYONE know how to remedy this? or did Nintendo just "F" up another game?

I still vote for the NES version just for this reason

Yep, definately the NES version for me. It had the depth, it had the graphics and sound, it had the kick-ass gameplay, but above all else, it had the quotes!

Elite Forces was a sequel of sorts to the NES game, if I recall correctly. R(L)add Spencer wasn't in the game at all. In fact, I think it had an entirely new storyline.

Elite Force is a *tough* game, but I didn't go far enough in it to encounter any bugs. Personally, I think it would've been better if Nintendo or Capcom would have just made a straight (or near-straight) port of the NES version. And what is it about Nintendo making this game anyway? We're surprised nowadays to see the Nintendo/Sega/Namco triumvirate, but Nintendo and Capcom had a sweet deal beforehand (see Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Ages, both developed by Capcom for Nintendo).

The NES version is the best, IMO. And you can't say that it's the "original", since the arcade version came out first and the NES version wasn't a straight port of the game either.

And I've never played the first Gameboy version. Is it a port or remake of the NES game?

I've heard that the original GB game is a remake of sorts of the NES game, but slightly more futuristic.

I've just gotten an e-mail from someone wanting to buy NES boxes from he. He claims to have Bionic Commando 2 for NES and has been looking for 6 years to find the box. I've asked him for photos, hopefully something will come.

EDIT: Just noticed this thread laid dormant for nearly 2 years before this post.

Well, i Have only played the NES version. And that game is one of my all time favs! Top 20 list for me probably. Used to play that game everyday when I came home from school during high school, back in around '96. Don't think I ever beat the game though, but always got to the end.

How's the arcade version, any different from the NES version??

I like the arcade version more, the graphics seem better so does the gameplay imo

I think I may have something against 8bit gaming? I really liked Tiny Toons, Double Dragon 2 and GI JOE back in the day and I still like playing them everynow and then.

But any NES I've tried in the last couple of years or so that I didn't play in my youth automatically suck or seem too average to play? So far I've tried:

Goonies 2 (1 seemed so much better they turned the game into a rpg)
Mighty Final Fight (It's decent but I've played much better so why bother)
Bionic Commando (Aren't GI JOE, Contra 2 etc etc all much better I just don't get it?)

Anyone else feel the same way?

The GBC game is the best one. It reminds me of the NES game except with better control and graphics.

If most of the carts didn't have a glitch like I posted above some time ago, I definitely would have voted this. This glitch was a huge dissapointment. People could have their carts sent to Nintendo to be fixed / replaced some time ago when the game was first released.

I forget what the problem was. If it couldn't be emulated on the GBA correctly, or if it was a GBC glitch too. All I remember is that if you got hit by the fist truck between certain stages it would lock up.

    Oh well.
