Default EEEE!!! Look what's cookin' in MAME!

They're concentrating on emulating the ST-V hardware, which is essentially an arcade extension of the Sega Saturn. You know what that means, don't you? Yep, folks... you'll finally get to play Radiant Silvergun on your computer.

Or you could buy an ST-V and play it for real. :P

    (Sorry, couldn't help gloating.)

Still, this is pretty good news. It's nice to preview a game in an emulator before plunking down the cash for it. I know people have been working on ST-V/Saturn for a long time and it's proved a bit tricky.

You can play Radiant Silvergun today with one of the several Saturn emulators out there currently. I wouldn't hold out much hope for MAME's ST-V support for some time - with MAME's intentions being accuracy, you won't see anywhere near the performance you have in the existing Saturn emulators. The MAMEdev involvement in the ST-V world will eventually improve Saturn emulation once Haze catches up with the current state of emulation, though we'll probably only see any improvements in Satourne - SSF seems to be off on its own, and Giri Giri is effectively dead. Ultimately MAME's ST-V emulation will be like its' PSX hardware emulation - the accuracy will be there, but if you're interested in playing the games you'll want to use the independent emulators that aren't so strict.

This is cool. I've long been a fan of the Cotton series of shooters. I can't wait for this to get working properly. (There really needs to be a  icon.)
