    Oh wait I remember now.

Are you asking "have video games, through their popularity, become too generic, too mass-population oriented, such that they have lost their unique charm"?

There are still great sleeper titles and those that don't tailor to every little Johnny and Sue, you just have to look a bit farther these days (past the GTA clones, past the car combat games, past the countless horde of sports titles). I think that modern games are for the most part pretty good, but there have been quite a few turds plopped in the pile, as well as plenty of cookie-cutter titles that shamelessly rip off of what has worked before. But when you think about it, haven't games almost always copied what has worked in the past? Would Viewtiful Joe be here if it weren't for the likes of Mario, Sonic and Bonk? Would Ikaruga be here if it weren't for Blazing Lazers, Raiden and Galaga?

    :monkey:

That's about as good as I can manage at the moment, too. Dunno why.

But HEY, it's better than the million "HUEG LoI spoilarz" threads at my forums, or any of the other poorly written topic titles over there @_@

The older I get, the less I care what "other" people are playing. Much like clothes and music, the further you get away from high school the less you'll care about what other people are wearing/listening to/playing.

DING DING DING!!! You're right on target there, my friend. Give that man the cigar.
It perfectly ties into Sony's recent financial troubles... people aren't getting the variety they deserve thanks to Sony's draconian licensing policies. Finally, FINALLY, Sony is starting to pay dearly for ruling the industry with an iron fist.

Man, that's some major deja vu.

Replace Sony with Nintendo, and the above statement is what people were saying in the mid 90's.
