Controls in MAME

Ok, I need some help setting up my controls in MAME. Say I'm playing Mortal Kombat. Which button would be High punch? Button 0? Button 1? Help!!!!!!

Oh, and SF controls would be nice too.....

It's easy. When in the game hit the TAB key. You can go to input select from there and set the buttons any way you want.

No, no....I know that. Figured that out all by myself. I don't which of the buttons coprresponds to which button in the game. For instance, when I select Button 1, am I selecting High punch, Low punch, etc?

Ehh...it varies from game to game. I know it's no help man, but trial and error is the way you have to go sometimes.

Zektor is the worst mod ever...he doesn't even know how to set the controls in MAME.....in the emulation forum!!!! :P

Ah well, that sucks...trail and error it is thou guesses!

I don't understand how you could possibly have any trouble at all with mapping the keys in MAME. it's so straightforward it hurts. in street fighter 123 are light medium and heavy punch and 456 are light medium heavy kick. In mortal kombat, you can set the buttons however you want. just press the keys to see what they do, then find the button that you want to press in order to do the move that you want.

If I remember correctly, holding down and pressing high punch will make you do an uppercut, and holding down and pressing low kick will make you do a sweep. you could try that, or better yet find a moves list that requires a certain button press, then do that move with each button. whichever button causes the move to work correctly is the button in the moves list.
